The FA Cup tie was 1980/81 and we won 2-1 with a last minute Ian Banks goal. Cue mass pitch invasion. Our lot ran the full length of the pitch and straight into their end jumping about.
Best times ever to be a supporter. That was the year I started supporting the club as a 10 year old. I just wish I had been a few years older so I could have experienced the away days of the era. As a kid I went with my dad until I was around 15-16 but we didn't do away games.
Isn't this the 2-2 draw in the league game, April 1981, just as we were closing in on promotion? I might be wrong, but I think that photo was in the end of season souvenir pull out that came with the Chronicle. I'm sure if seen a scanned in copy of this recently, on here or on Twitter maybe?
No. It was the 2-2 draw in the league. Ronnie Glavin didn't play in the 2-1 cup win earlier in the season. In fact, his replacement Neil Cooper scored our equalising goal.
