I'd love to have the equipment to be an internationally famous porn star, but Mother Nature wasn't kind enough

I'd love to be a rock star, but can neither sing nor play an instrument

I'd have loved to be an astronaut, but was born in the wrong country in the wrong generation (and would be scared witless)

But other than that, I wouldn't change much except stopping swimming at 9 - I was competing at county level and will always wonder how good I could have been if I'd carried on...

I always wanted dance lessons as a child but my parents wouldn't let me. I've never stopped loving dance and joined the dance team at uni. I can't watch a music video/performance without wishing I was one of the backing dancers. I don't think I'll ever get over it :(

I agree FR. Must be really good to be able to play any instrument properly. I had a mate who was
very popular and always got himself invited to loads of parties. He loved the " Killer" Jerry Lee Lewis.
Within minutes of arriving at a do, he would have the place absolutely rocking with tunes such as
" Long tall Sally," " Whole lotta Shakin' Goin' On." etc.

Car mechanics. It's never been my forte. Even changing a bulb is a major undertaking. I don't necessarily want to be F1 pit stop standard, I'd happily settle for being half as good as @JamDrop.

I would like to have been a decent musician, in particular a guitar player. I've played since I was about 16 but realised quite early that I would never be that good. I've never managed to train my ear and my technique isn't great. I've always struggled to sing and play at the same time unless it's just strumming a few chords (I can play the start of Stairway but it all goes to pot if I try to sing).

As a student in Newcastle I found an alto Sax in the wardrobe of a student house, I couldn't get a sound out of it. Unfortunately the guy who owned it came round for it a few days later....

Cricket was for me too. I played a decent standard too - got as far as playing a handful of County Second XI games, but wasn't quite good enough to take that extra step.

Failing that, I'd like to have been Slash.

I'm alright at drawing, guitar and photography, but not amazing at any of those.

If I wasn't already doing my ideal realistic job, I would love to be a freelance photographer, travelling the world for National Geographic.

My dream photography job would be motorsport, I’ve never enjoyed landscape or nature photography (sets me apart from 90% of hobby photographers).

I've shot a few weddings and corporate, architectural stuff but my passion is nature. I also like street photography.

As others have said, I'd have loved to be talented enough to play a musical instrument, or paint (in oils). I think it must be a wonderful way to unwind, or chill out by being able to master these disciplines.

Seen a few very good uns. In mi times.
But the best Drummer/percussionist I’ve ever seen was a bloke called Eric Delaney ( As solo or with his band) What a master of the art.

Console yourself with the idea the Jimmy Page probably has the same problem. If not, Led Zeppelin would have been a trio.

Singing. I love music and I love singing but if I'm not the worst singer on the entire planet then I'm pretty close. Its so frustrating being so **** at something you enjoy so much.

    Great Post.

    Three things spring to mind.

I'd love to be able to plaster properly, something I'd love to see part of the school curriculum (along with basic plumbing and electrics etc), I really admire the professionals that make it look so easy.

Wish I had the fitness levels to cycle professionally.

Also wish I had the voice and musical talent to be able to sing and play a musical instrument , something like Billy Joel. I think anyone who can master an instrument is amazingly talented and it's a gift to be able to listen to them too. I had piano lessons from the age of 8 to 10, but didn't sticky at it, I regret it now.

Little secret, I consider myself a pretty down to earth bloke, but I really like listening to the piano music of Ludovico Einaudi when I need to wind down. Only got into his music after watching the film This is England, where he has several pieces on the soundtrack. Would love to be able to play like that.

I listen to him too, he's an amazing pianist and creates some beautiful music. Didn't realise he had any involvement in This is England! :)
