Can you still get them that use that - I remember the early HP ones used to work backwards though my Casio never did
It makes me laugh that when reading an article your first thought is to try and 'gotcha' the journalist. Even ignoring the interesting maths, that's still a bit weird.
Yep! Woke up a bit hungover and grumpy... should have known better than posting in that state to avoid the subsequent sh*t storm given the abject failure on my part to make simple calculation and unfairly and incorrectly 'diss' a journalist doing his job!
I don't know how old the OP is, but maybe he's of the generation allowed to even use their calculators in exams. Kids aren't learnt to work things out in their heads any more, which is why some cashiers in shops can't add up the change due when the tills aren't working.
taught* If you're going to go all intellectually superior, at least get all the words right in your post.
I think HP still makes one or two models. A couple of the older engineers in our department have them (and swear by them) but every time I've picked them up in meetings to get a quick number I've swiftly regretted it. Witchcraft.
It's like that scene in 'The Office' where Gareth is convinced the calculator is wrong and gets on the phone to Casio. He's talking through an example with Customer Support and next thing he says is 'Ok, so this time it's right...'
