I think the club's reticence at putting something like this out is the effect it would have on next years season tickets sales and they really have to be careful here. The other issue is the additional work that may be required to support such a scheme since we've got a tiny combined ticket office/shop most of the time at Oakwell. If this is something that Ticket master already support then there's less of an issue. What would you pay for one of these? Say it was for 10 games? Would you pay £200 £230 £250? It would have to be over £20 a match wouldn't it so as to keep season tickets attractive next year?
This is the overall problem for the club . I'm happy to pay the full amount for my current season ticket even though I can only attend around 15 matches a season . This allows me total flexibility and, of course, my own seat that I've had for years . But if I was to be offered a 'FLEXI' ticket for say £200 I would probably get one . Great for me as I save £150.00 but not so good for the club's coffers .
You are paying £23 per game, which wouldn't usually be a good deal, considering you've given them so much money up front. This season's ridiculous categories have skewed that though. I'd say you're in the minority, still buying a season ticket despite missing so many games. Your situation proves there needs to be a tier of discount between season ticket price and match day price.
Maybe some people view it as supporting the club financially and not so much about how good a deal it is on a match by match basis?
I think you underestimate how many season ticket holders miss some matches. not everyone can attend every match and for sone the benefits still outweigh any negatives, not just on cost (which obviously is usually the main consideration) If you wanted a flexible ticket and the club said 10 games at £25 quid a pop, £250 paid today would you do it?
I'm sure there are those who can't afford £5.76 a week for a season ticket but there are plenty who can and will buy one to provide that financial support that the club want.
That's too high. I'd pay £200 max, preferably £180. They are leaving it so late. I'd probably struggle to get 10 games in now.
Those people (if they exist) will still buy a season ticket even if there's cheaper options then. Nothing to worry about.
Spot on ! there was a time when the club wouldn't have got an extra 2 bob from me , but now I'm fine with investing in something that gives me something back . I can totally understand some people wanting the best possible deal though . I think if they we're to offer a 'FLEXI' ticket they would have to keep it under £100 for say any 5 games .
Which ridiculous categories are these? Are you referring to A* which hasn't been activated yet and in realistic terms is only likely to be put in place for Leeds United at home if at all? If you can only make say eight games over the course of the season then depending on what games you fall on your total increased expenditure on tickets vs. last year might be £20/£25 at a stretch. In a world where football ticket pricing has gone mad, I still think that's excellent value for what we're seeing on the pitch. You need to stop making out the club are robbing you blind when they're not.
Lets call it a 'PONTYENDER FLEXI TICKET' just for him . It's free of charge for all games and half price on all food and beverages . Oh and free Uber !
That's the way to do it. Pop say every friday a five pound note and one pound coin in a moneybox and empty it a year later with the season ticket completely paid for. You don't notice that amount in the same way you would if you had to find over 300 quid in one go.
The whole idea of a category system is ridiculous. I won't pay more than £25 and 2 out of the first 5 league games have been higher than that. Leeds won't be the only A* game either. Of the away prices I know, Sheffield Wednesday are charging more than Leeds.
Make your mind up. You had reservations about the impact but thought it was otherwise a good idea earlier.
Sheffield Wednesday can POTENTIALLY charge more than Leeds based on their own categories, but doesn't mean they will. That's why pricing for games is revealed in bunches as we're trying to negotiate the best deal for our away fans and in return our home fans. Don't necessarily agree with this approach, but I understand it. What I don't agree with is that our pricing is ridiculous or other such terms you've used over recent weeks.
They definitely exist, no idea how many would take that view but most of the London Tykes that I would travel up on the train with would buy season tickets in the knowledge that they'd probably miss most/ all midweek games. Chuck in a few missed Saturday games and you are in the territory of it not making financial sense to buy one. I'm sure they aren't alone.
The point is no-one should be in that position who can't afford to be. There should be a tier of discount between season ticket and individual match price.
It is a good idea , but you seem to find problems with any proposal because it isn't bespoke to you . You say that you can attend between 5-10 games this season but wont pay above £25 . The fact remains that you are not going to get a match day ticket for less than £23 , so are you willing to miss matches for the sake of a couple of quid ? principled you may be , but foolish ? Why don't you try and find a season ticket holder that can't fully attend and ask the if they are willing to sell you their ticket on the days they can't make it .
