Great cause, however I find it an absolute embarrassment that a professional football club is going into a season without a main shirt sponsor.
Great gesture. Wish they were being auctioned off for charity afterwards though. Missed a trick there.
On the assumption that the shirts are eventually signed and then auctioned off for charity, I wonder which charity it should be?
What would be a great move now - is if a local company came up with a sponsorship package that maintains the Weston Park Charity on the shirt for the rest of the season. They would get far more positive publicity / coverage than if they just put their own logo on.
That's not what either of those two clubs did. Wednesday gave the children's hospital sponsorship for free and Aston villa were struggling to get a sponsor to agree a deal so did the same thing.
Nice that the club read this forum and took on board suggestions by me and other posters to do a variation of this. Hope they take on other good ideas by the supporters.
They used to always be called stockings didn't they? I vaguely recall them being referred to as that on the back of old programmes.
Another bump. What's taking so long to get them auctioned? I thought they would be available by now. I hope we have another charity on our shirts Saturday.
