He does acknowledge the mistakes though, doesn't he? He acknowledges that he's been **** in terms of communication. He acknowledges that the club mis-judged how long the development of so many new players would take. He's given updates on some things that people have been asking about (the Bambo situation for example) - yes, they should have come sooner. I don't dispute that.
I honestly don't know. I don't know who's on the board. The only ones I can think that he's referring to (and I have no idea if all these are even members of the board) are James Cryne, Jean Cryne and Robert Zuk.
He sort of half acknowledges them but then tries to excuse them every time and doesn't apologise for them or do anything to set t right. Season tickets to be announced in less than two weeks according to him. I wonder why he's come out of the woodwork...
It’s Conway I have a bigger issue with, he was everywhere last year, his face was the cover of every single match report. Now, nothing! Where is he? I want him in front of the supporters explaining his mistakes. I’d imagine Dane has been told to keep quiet in fairness so I don’t really have an issue with him, he’s taking all the stick for the incompetence of the owners. This gathering hosted by Dane last night hasn’t made any impact on my decision regarding next years commitment though, I’m still undecided either way. What I can guarantee is I certainly won’t fall for the extra £15 next season, their explanation for that is utterly embarrassing in my opinion.
I was a bit worried by his response to a question on the fanzone. His answer talked about the development of the West Stand and seemed to suggest that the Club taking over complete control Of Oakwell was critical. I assume this relates to trying to persuade the Council to relinquish their 50% stadium ownership. Of all the disastrous decisions taken in recent years this, for me would be the worst. The idea of these owners having complete control of the ground fils me with dread. For a true supporter like Steve Houghton, the Council Leader, to even consider a sale would be truly outrageous.
The way it read to me was they were expecting it to happen, he didn’t say if he said when the land was purchased.
Thank goodness we have at least one positive opinion on here. I was there - and Dane spoke well. Gave us a positive message to take away with us - while admitting there had been mistakes - and those mistakes will be learnt from. As I’ve said before - it’s going to take time with these owners - but I strongly believe they will get things right in the next season or two.
Exactly. FFP suits their agenda perfectly, and they can hide behind it whilst trying to turn a profit on a £15k punt from Hayes & Yeading
