That takes me back a bit. Seems like only yesterday that bands like these were knocking about in town centre pubs. I remember buying a Creatures Of Habit single (EP?) direct from the band members one night in Chennels. I guess I was under the influence... Nice to see John Peel giving Bill Nelson some credit for his part in the indie revolution.
A bloke on bus told me that the Travellers in South Kirkby is a good place to catch musicians when they're doing concerts in the area. Apparently they use it as a sound testing venue? The roadies stay there too. Was he talking out of his arse? (I appreciate it's nothing to do with posting music clips. Just dint want to start another thread for sake of it).
Yep. Just spun the new 50th anniv. edition. Sounds utterly amazing. The best of Giles’ remixes so far.
It's amazing the transformation from Please, please me to Let it be. When i was younger I loved the rhythm and blues stuff and barely listened to the later stuff. I never realised how heavy the Beatles got in their later stuff. Helter Skelter is right up there with Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song. (Well for me anyway).
Seeing While My Guitar Gently Weeps in here reminded me of this video. I never appreciated what a genius Prince actually was until I saw this, his guitar work here is incredible
I was the opposite. I didn't really think they'd done much good until rubber soul/ revolver when I was young and preferred the white album and that era. Recently I've got really into some of the soul songs on the early albums. Especially love Lennon's voice on them. I think please please me is probably their most underrated album. some of the performances on there are unreal. Only thing missing is Ringo
After they split Ringo was trying to push his own career and he released the Ringo Starr lp. Ringo was obviously present on every track. Best thing about it as many as three Beatles colaberated on some of the tracks. It was as close as the Beatles ever got to getting back together.
Fvcking fantastic video as well I had no uni exams in second year, my entire degree was on the end of third year and I had 6 consecutive days of morning exams. I used to listen to Sabotage every day on my walk to the exam schools to get me going. RIP MCA
