    Hope they are all brought to safety ST. My folks live in Parkstone and have a beach hut at Sandbanks.
    My cousin used to manage the Crazy Golf course at Sandbanks.Been down into Poole times many and
    have often passed the lifeboat site. You do a brilliant job mate.

    Just to clarify I'm not a coastguard. What I wrote was the last sentences of the audio from the penlee disaster, it's the bit you mentioned where it all went silent.

    The good news is that the surfer was rescued and all coastguard returned safely. That clip of the lifeboat almost capsizing shows just how much safety has progressed too doesn't it. They can fully capsize and should right themselves which is absolutely amazing progress compared to the lifeboats of old.

    Sorry ST misunderstood what you were saying. That's right about the Penlee disaster. They got the skippers pregnant
    wife and step daughter off but when they went in again for the two crew, they all perished. You could tell how bad it was
    that night with gales and seventy foot waves, the American helicopter pilot aborted attempts to rescue them because
    it would have put his crew in danger. Absolutely tragic event that made a big impression on me.

    Not a happy bunny this morning. Train delayed from Hanwell to Paddington by a peg bag wrapping round the overhead wires. Don't suppose anyone on here knows owt about it do they ;)

    There's a very good reason why all these peg bags have been lost; they are all full of the cheap plastic pegs!

    What yer need is proper wooden pegs I tell yer.... the ones that come with lucky heather......:D

    Yes pal, you’ll have to organise an emergency line block then get the nomi out to isolate the overheads and issue you with a c form before it’s safe to work. Don’t sign before they demonstrate test before touch to you though.
    Sorry, you were talking about the peg bag weren’t you?

    About the Penlee disaster. It could have all been avoided if the ships Captain had put in a mayday straight away and not refused a tug straight away. Sad loss of life.

    I thought that. He could have agreed to the Lloyds register agreement whereby another vessel would have towed his ship into harbour, but he was wrongly thinking of the reactions of his owners regarding the cost, instead of the lives of those on his boat as well as those brave lads on the lifeboat. As you rightly say SD, a very sad loss of life.
