Someone has electronically plotted 2 lines, more or less side by side. To represent players boot positions, or something. Winnie has already explained it. Look at the halfway line in relation to the 18 yard box. Those lines are miles out & mean nothing. I could fix it for you, but would want £35 p/hr.
I did it myself. Extended both the 18 yard box and the half way point to the vanishing point and then drew lines from the players boots to that point. They're parallel.
Come on guy's one of the pluses of been in the lower leagues is we don't have to put up with this nonsense he was offside the flag went up just enjoy the win.
I'm glad he's with us, an i'm glad he's getting games, the fringe players can learn so much from him, C,O,Y,R,
I'm obviously being a bit thick as always but I tried extending the half way line and the six yard box lines until they met which is what I thought the vanishing point was but then when I tried drawing a line where the grass changes colours and extending that it ended up nowhere near the vanishing point but it's supposed to isn't it?
Indeed. Looked marginally offside to me on looking at the highlights, but can't really complain either way. Bit annoyed as a Barnsley fan, would probably feel we'd been let off if I supported Fleetwood. Overall, close enough that it would come down to 'one of those things' on either side. (Not sure I'd be quite so sanguine if we hadn't eventually got the winner!)
All things being perfect, yes. But you get distortion from a camera lens. The guy* painting the white lines didn't get their set square out. The guy* mowing the grass certainly didn't. The top and bottom of it is that you cannot tell if a player is offside from this camera angle. Or almost any camera angle. You just can't. You can easily demonstrate that someone claiming definitively that it is this or it is that is talking out of their harris, but equally you can't claim anything definitive yourself. You can just show ambiguity. *guy to me means man or woman
I thought referees were giving the benefit of the doubt to attackers on tight decisions. To cut out this arms and finger nails etc. However, it is history and history shows 3 points. We move on.
In all fairness whether he was just on or just off, it wasn’t an absolute howler by the linesman, you can see why it’d be given either way when you have a split second to judge where everyone was at the moment the ball was played. We can’t even agree whether it was onside or offside now so we can’t complain it was a bad decision. There have been and will be a lot worse go for and against us in the rest of the season. We got the three points in the end. We need to look forward to this Saturday - which has got banana skin written all over it if you ask me, especially with the situation with their manager.
