He was extremely disappointing. The odd nice pass apart, the game passed him by. Except when he was giving the ball away that is.

I thought Kane was very good on the first half; dissappeared in the second.

Utterly disagree. Our only threat in the second half came down our left side and was orchestrated by Kane. Phillips was anonymous, the less said about Russell the better, and Benson did sort of OK when he came on.

Eh? Gave the ball away every other time he got it, failed to defend a basic corner at the near post, got himself booked by allowing the slowest and smallest player on the field in Sam Morsy to out muscle him and sprint past him, and otherwise allowed the same Sam Morsy to have as much time and space in the middle of the park as he wanted as he couldn’t be arsed to get within five yards of him.

He played exactly like I expected him to, a couple of nice touches and passes but absolutely nothing telling, defensively questionable and most of the game bypassing him completely.

He’s awful. Adds nothing. Reminds me of Jacob Mellis, only not as good. And he was ******* gash.

I think you've been quite complimentary there. His workrate and attitude to the job is an embarrassment and a disgrace

I think that’s about right. There’s clearly a footballer in there, but he has the heart of a pea. We’ve had enough of those to last me a lifetime so I don’t want another one.

Players who have been s**t for Barnsley.
    Liam Kitching.
    Mads Andersen
    Jordan Williams
    Adam Phillips

According to the emininences gris on here after they'd played a few games.

That's just out of the current squad and not including Cole and Benson. All won a raffle to play football apparently.
I just knew what was coming for Russell after seeing him in the team should we lose.
He may have been crap last night (haven't watched it yet). He may turn out to be not good enough. However, he's barely played more than three full matches and was chucked in against the best team in the league. How about we give him a decent run in the side before deciding he's not as good as our granny?

if that's a reply to me MT then I probably won't watch it. Seeing us lose three nil after the fact isn't high up on my wish list.
I'm perfectly willing to believe he had a bad game. It's perfectly possible he won't cut it at BFC. It's also true that all good players have terrible games. What I'm saying is that people were writing off the players I mentioned after a handful of games as being useless. I doubt Duff thinks Russell is useless or he wouldn't have put him in the team.
Time will tell but two or three full games is just a ridiculous timescale to judge a player.
