He wasn't point scoring, he simple highlighted you'd used "but" twice in your post, and in doing so, you negate what goes before it. See examples of "but". Yes, you look really nice, but your bum looks a bit big. This dinner is really tasty, but the meat is like rubber.
Anyway thanks for the education about the word but, wish I had done better at school might be able to join in then,we arguing over something happened 25 years ago, least we don’t have racist chanting anymore at the ground apart from the infamous song from last season, things are a lot better, one good thing about the internet people more educated on racist things now
What does that mean in this context? Putting aside the fact that even 1 racist fan is too many, let's look at what you said: There are 2 possible implications of this - by saying Wright is an exception you're implying he's either making it up or exaggerating, or he brought it on himself in some way. Why is there any need for the wording after "no excuse for it?" You're saying that he brought it on himself, and by explaining it you're suggesting that it's at least understandable if not excusable to racially abuse someone if they wind the crowd up. Then you're saying that there aren't thousands of racists, despite there bing widespread racist abuse that day. What are you saying there? That racially abusing someone isn't racist if you're provoked by a bloke playing football? That's clearly nonsense. What does it matter whether it was 10, 100 or 10,000 fans giving racist abuse? If a window in your house gets bricked you don't say "ah well, the vast majority of my windows are intact so that's fine". I don't think anyone in here has said all Barnsley fans are racist have they? Just that it was a shameful episode and should be condemned without caveat or qualification.
I understand now, just how I write probably did come over wrong,oh well my one Ian Wright story and caused a righ Oooh ahhhhh
Sure hasn't. I've learned that if someone is being a **** to the fans then it's not clever to racially abuse someone, but it's ok.
I just think it's easy to put words in someone's mouth and back them into a corner. I don't think he's racist. Not in the slightest. I was also trying to say don't let what is written on an internet forum bother him.
I don’t understand what your implying, why does everyone have to twist things Thank you Stephen wish I not joined in now, only wanted to tell my Ian Wright story
What was the point of that story? It seems to have 2 general themes - Ian Wright is a bit of a tw*t, and racist abuse is understandable if it's provoked, neither of which are relevant or appropriate give the subject of the thread. It's not as if people are jumping down your throat for posting an inoffensive little anecdote.
I didn't put words in anyone's mouth. I underlined what he himself had said to bring it to his attention. I didn't call him any names or do any "virtue signalling".
