Did Nicky Eaden or Thommo hit the bar from about 35 yards after Clint scored ? I’ve never seen it in highlights or even mentioned. Maybe I dreamt it amongst the euphoria
Did he? I must've been too busy celebrating promotion then cos I definitely missed that. All of 25 years have passed since and I've never heard it even mentioned.
Me neither. Anyone got a video. Also can someone post Aranalde's goal for Walsall from 2001. It was still the best goal I've seen at Oakwell?
Haven't heard people stop talking about the assist and the finish. Although terrible defending from Germany to not intercept the pass (I agree with Ally McCoist on that one).
I nevr thought that goal should have been credited to {Paul Wilkinson, - the Ponte end sucked it in. lol
On the telly it’s been very much about the second and winning goal combined with the shirt waving. As for the defending for the first, I think the pass pretty much dissects the two German backs. I’d be just as critical of the time and space the midfielders afforded Walsh to make the pass in the first place
I think the 'official' reason is that it incites opposition fans. If I were to put my tin foil hat on I might think it's to do with sponsorships though. Either shirt sponsorships or sponsors getting uneasy about players with their shirts off affecting their brand.
In terms of the news headlines it's natural to cover the winning goal in Extra Time as that's the pivotal moment. Everything I've seen that's covered it in detail has praised the goal, especially the finish, and that was certainly the case on anything last night. Was a great ball through, but if that was Liam Kitching letting it get behind him we'd have been very critical.
We would and that's fine - the thing I don't like though that I've seen a lot on social media is any mistake that happens gets met with "this is why the women's game is awful" by some quarters. When mistakes happen in the men's game we don't say "this is why men shouldn't play football". Obviously not aiming this at you, it's just something I see every time there's a women's game on TV and it grinds my gears.
I was told it's partly because of sponsors (our logo won't be seen ) but also because of time wasting having to possibly retrieve and put the shirt back on (the celebration does that anyway) and because players were starting to wear vests with political slogans underneath (Fowler had something about dockers from memory). Can't see it does any harm personally.
I think, as stated above, it's official to stop crowd problems. I actually suspect though, that you can't see the advert and therefore it must be wrong.
