It’s got to the point for me now as a season ticket holder where calculating the time to travel, to walk to the ground and the fact the match day experience actually ruins my weekend. I’d rather stay away and do something more productive. I’ve used my season ticket 4 times this season and I’ve accepted feeling good on a weekend is more important than the loss of money and time. I don’t mind losing games, but there’s no fight or sign of wanting to improve. Feels like the owners don’t give a monkeys about the fans and until that changes I won’t step foot back in the ground. Sad state of affairs.
I'm currently stuck in a hotel room in Austria with covid, and have been for 5 days. Yesterday I had the opportunity to relieve some of the boredom by watching the game on iFollow. I decided against it. I suspect I enjoyed my afternoon more than many of you, especially those who were sent to Coventry. Respect and admiration to all those who went.
Couldn't have put it better myself. It's absolutely terrible that many decent fans feel like this. Capitalist money-men chancers who have no interest in BFC's history and its aggregated memories are destroying the club. They are also, whether they would acknowledge it or not, making it harder for younger fans to get that sense of belonging, community and tribal togetherness that we all bought into. Tomorrow's memories are being erased today by this ownership group.
Thank you, we're both fine again now, although we were quite rough. Still waiting for a negative test though, but I'm feeling positive about tomorrow's test.
I know how you feel having watched Barnsley F C since 1968. The debacle with the West Stand and talk of ground sharing plus the disasterous season so far, the insistence of a foreign head coach with no experience, a chairman with no experience or love of football have distanced the fans from an uncaring board who have demonstrated a lack of respect for their loyal fanbase and who have not learned at all from their past mistakes in how to treat their fans and its staff. It does not bode well for the furure until they leave and take their 'model' with them.
Great Post although really sad, I feel exactly the same and the same time supporting BFC. And I'm sure thousands of others feel the same as you do.
I know what you mean Helen and that's the one thing in my opinion that was a huge fail on his part. I don't buy the story. But I liked that he wrote to people and called a poster (can't remember which one) on here's mum and apologised and offered to welcome her and her husband at a home game. Nice gesture.
As for me, I'll always care about my club & I will never turn my back on BFC. The owners need to go though, they're slowly destroying us.
