I’m not a big tennis fan but was in the 70’s and 80’s and they didn’t have tie break deciders then. Why do they take so long nowadays ?
Tbh mate I'm not a tennis fan as such either. But owt that has a brit or brits getting to the latter stages of a competition attracts my interest. As for longevity I'm with you. Longest game ever was under tie break rules as well. 11hrs 5mins. Last set 70-68 in 2010. Match played over 3 days. at Wimbledon. They've now introduced a tie break in the final set. In all grand slams and olympics.
I can't remember the last time I listened to tennis on the radio. I can probably count the times I ever have on one hand. Listened to at least an hour of half of this. Gripping stuff and an absolutely remarkable effort. Fair play to both players. Cannot believe they were still playing at 4am though, crazy!
Crazy. Not just about the players. Got ball boys and girls, the umpire, media, the fans, staff, all there past 4am and got to get home/to hotels. Unbelievable really.
