Mowatt needs to stay. But we have to accept his role is/has to be more of a Claude Makelele one. Where he gets the ball, retains possession and lays it off. He’s good at that, and has a decent engine to go with it.

If we all accept that he’s very good at that role, if not one of the best in the league at it, we’ll be fine. It’s the link going forward that is missing/ needs to improve. Hopefully Styles is the one for that.

Brad Potts showed glimpses of it at times - a powerhouse going forward. In particular that game v Luton at home the other season.

I can think of one instinctive pass without which we would be playing League One football today.

Our player of the season is still one of most influential players we have. He didnt play that great today (we didnt all over really) but still a good player for us but he has his is limits.

Some of you are strange. He’s our best player by some distance & has been for 2 seasons. He’s been playing as a defensive midfielder since December. Other than the keeper the player in his position is the least likely to score in the whole team given the centre backs go up for corners.

I’m sure you don’t get Barcelona fans criticising Busquets for not scoring or assisting for example.

If you want him to be creative then your issues with Struber not Mowatt as he’s not playing in a position to create.

As for set pieces, he’s not great at them but unless he’s demanding to take them it’s not his fault that Struber asks him to take them. Many teams sign a player specifically for set pieces.

Personally I think he needs to be further forward. Should’ve had an assist to his name today, and would’ve made more of some situations we had in the first half, which Simoes couldn’t make the most of. He needs to stop trying from long range, but he’s better when arriving late in the box
