imho...That looks like 11 players chucked on a field for the first time ever! Fair play to Shrewsbury, bottom of the table (and thats for a reason) but put in gut busting 45. That said we are awful...all the narrative from Conor of this high octaine high press quick football seems light years away. I appreciate he has footballers out there who just can't do that....and its going to take some time and a few players moved on to do it all. Really poor all over...again, we are out muscled all over to the first and secondball and instead of quick passing and moving we chose to prod and poke the ball around at oil tankers pace. Our two wide lads have pace but zero quality...we just look sooooo weak all over....and that was our good half!!
We could be 3-1 up easily, we've had 9 shots with 3 on target. They've had 1 and scored. Yes the defence could be better but these are assessment games for CH, he has to look at everybody and really the result is immaterial. This imo should be put into context of preparation for next season
only issue I see is if this continues and next season starts similarly it’s likely that we are going to mess up yet another season by bad decisions at the top of the tree.
Not seen anything. But just read comments. Doesn't matter what Connor does. He's got the same ***** squad as DC
Let's be honest some players are playing as though they won't be here next season. Is that cos they already know.
In a full season of unacceptable performances this plumbs the depths, and keeps sinking further. I really don’t know why I’m watching this. It’s so depressing.
Huge clear out needed in the summer, I'm still very worried those above think it's just flicking a switch bringing in a 3/4 players and supplementing the rest with the academy. I don't think it's an exaggeration to suggest we will need 8/9 players.
There are a few in this thread almost suggesting that the Clarke period was some kind of 'Golden age'. Can I respectfully disagree and suggest the emphasis on the Coach is misplaced. - when Collins was here we were a shambolic badly run Club. - when Clarke was appointed we were a shambolic badly run Club. - now that we've appointed Conor, we're a badly run shambolic Club. The only thing that has changed over the period is that a pathetic recruitment approach has actually been made worse. Fair play for that. I didn’t think it was possible. Until, these fundamentals are sorted it doesn't matter who is sat in the dugout.
If DKDs agent hasn’t sent a highlight reel to every club in the championship I’d be absolutely amazed. “Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Davis Keillor-Dunn has joined Sky Bet Championship club Sunderland AFC for an undisclosed fee”. Sporting Director Mladen Sormaz added “Sunderland made a bid that was acceptable to the club, and the player intimated at the end of last season that he was looking to move on. The fee received will add to the budget we have to assemble our squad for the forthcoming season, and I plan to use it to sign several players no ***** has heard of from the Swiss amateur league, division three in the USA and the unibond premier league. And a new tent for the fan zone.”
Clarke was definitely the scapegoat to deflect away from Mladen. Conor is pointing out the same failings that Clarke told us about months and months ago.
If Sormaz has owt to do with recruitment at Barnsley FC this summer we WILL be relegated to L2 not may WILL be relegated.
Same shi.t squad… Worse defensive record. Less points per game. One win in nine. No more goals scored. No aspect whatsoever in which we are any better. Which of the above is inaccurate?
