You’ve got to just love Ollie. We were lucky to have him - just wish it could have been for longer. A real bonus to see him score against the likes of United. Might be a bit daft of me but I love it when he scores really scruffy goals.
We’ve been over the 01/17 debacle time and time again. As things were we couldn’t stop Hourihane and the rest leaving. And in my view we should have sold Scowen and Watkins at that time to get a bit of money for them. But that’s not what I’m saying here. My point is that when young talent comes along the owners should be willing to push the boat out - as in the long run they will need them.
As I covered in my post . In our presence situation we have to accumulate to speculate . Some of our accumulations will not come to fruition under our guardianship but we put sell on clauses in as insurance which had served us well thus far . You have said in the past we should be buying McBurnie and Barnes etc and that’s where I’m saying one day in our future we will if we manage sensible now .
Leaving aside the FFP restrictions you seem incapable of understanding or the massive wage he would have demanded at what point in his stay with us do you think a Championship/Premier League level player on the fringes of the Scotland squad would have entertained the idea of joining us? In January when we were struggling? A few months on when we were heading for the drop? Or at the season's end when we were relegated?
