Imo those are phenomenal averages considering almost all our support comes either from within the town or people with a connection with our Town.
Lol !!! It were brilliant where I was in the West Stand Lower. And the Ponti and East Stand looked brilliant. They made loads of noice as well. I think the roof would have come off if we had scored.
I totally agree but going back to the original point we won't get the kind of crowds we got against Sunderland week in week out in the championship
You're right but we have a lot of competition in such a small area - especially if likes of Leeds or Sheff Utd go up, we have Manchester clubs within a short distance as well
I have said this several times on here. Barnsley Football Club has not in my lifetime had what I would call a sustained period of success. Attendances have been up and down because it’s always been a rollercoaster. In saying that the John Dennis era was good - while he was building the club. But for the first time ever I’m starting to believe something could happen at the club that could last for years.
I don’t think we’ll be far off if we competing tbh. If we just existing as before then maybe not but if we competing it’ll get the numbers at home and from opposition supporters .
The only way we will pull in regular crowds of 18000 in the Championship, even if we are a top 10 side year in year out, is with significant ticket price reductions. Even then I have my doubts. To really expand the fanbase a sustained period of low prices or a lengthy spell in the top flight would be needed.
No matter what’s said - the fact there were over 18,000 to watch a match on a Tuesday night during the worst weather we have had all winter is very encouraging for everyone at the club. If we get promotion and do reasonably well - and with traveling support from clubs as big as Sunderland - then I would imagine the present capacity of the ground could be insufficient.
The club should do more to attract what I would call the casual fans who only attend now and again, they should do offers like one full paying adult and up to 2 kids @ pound each, this could be open to all including season ticket holders, fill those empty areas by giving local schools block tickets and do more to encourage the young to attend and get involved by slashing junior season ticket prices ,it will pay dividends in the future theres so much more that can and should be done
I had a look on the club youtube and it still looks more eagle than kestrel - perhaps Nudger could adjudicate?
