Well done, you've correctly identified that they said police should better investigate rape accusations. I'm shocked that you disagree with that.
Including your son of course. Don't forget that you said you'd be happy for him to be part of that collareral
Your question wasn’t directed at me but I’ll answer it. I’d want the right person to be found and convicted. Of course. What I wouldn’t want is for the best guess as to the perpetrator to be convicted. Or for anyone who couldn’t have guilt proven beyond reasonable doubt to be imprisoned. If the person was known to me and so there was no doubt about who’d done it in my mind - I don’t know how I’d react of course and I hope I will never know - but I’d either have to subject myself to near immediate intimate examination, which I fully understand is rarely the case for victims of such crimes given its yet another invasion - or accept that if evidence such as that wasn’t available and it came to the word of one person against another, that the person isn’t likely going to be convicted. Or even charged and tried. It would be dangerous to set that precedent. Anybody could accuse anyone of any crime and if we take one word over another we convict based not even on a balance of probability as in a civil case - let alone proven beyond reasonable doubt as is the legal requirement in a criminal trial. Don’t conflate issues here. Nobody is saying they are happy with rape conviction rates or that they wouldn’t want more guilty parties to be imprisoned. What is being said is that your assertion that turning the tables and removing / lessening the burden of proof, fully accepting that this will lead to innocent people being convicted but that this is acceptable as collateral damage to ‘redress the balance’ - is for want of a better way of putting it, absolutely batshit crazy.
No, again not what you said. You seem to do this regularly. You went a step further than innocent people being falsely accused. You stated that innocent people being locked up was justified. Are there any other crimes where you feel this is OK too?
You've said your happy with the status quo ( which is that most rapists are never brought to trial, let alone convicted) but that victims should be supported more.
Stop lying. They said that they wanted rapes to be investigated better. I'm shocked you are arguing against that
Me too. I'm off to dream about a perfect start at Oakwell, rhe sun shining, crowd chanting and 3 points. Night
I'm "happy with the status quo" in that I think the criminal burden of proof - a fundamental aspect of our justice system - should remain consistent across all offences. I've said that the police should better investigate accusations of rape. Are you so blinded by your prejudice that it leads you to ignore what I've actually said, in very straightforward terms? You're embarrassing yourself.
Thread's been running for well over five hours now, and unsurprisingly the usual leftist bully-mob continues to browbeat and harangue Helen for her perfectly reasonable views on this issue, which I've no doubt are shared by the vast majority, attacking her from all angles etc. Anyone with the least bit of common sense would understand that a young teenage lass browsing in an underwear department is likely to be sensitive and self-conscious and therefore best not approached by a (6 foot something) bloke, regardless of whether you work there or not, and even if you are cosplaying as the opposite sex. No wonder M&S have apologised, another big corporation wilfully committing corporate suicide via its idiotic embrace of left wing ideologies. As for the above posts re rape convictions etc, I fully agree that the criminal burden of proof must remain the benchmark in such cases, which (the lack of significant evidence) may be the reason the conviction rates are what they are, as 'relaxing' that approach would be a disaster. For the avoidance of doubt, and just so it doesn't sound like I'm in any way sympathetic towards potential sex offenders, anyone found to have committed such vile acts against a man or woman should have their bits chopped off.
You shouldn't, the BBS is the only place where you'll find your views have any significant support, which is no doubt why you spend so much of your time on here.
