Its a tough one this for me. There are plenty of female pundits who I find fantastic. Alex Scott, Sur Smith, Karen Carney and the lady who's name I can't remember from Sheffield - double barrelled surname. She's probably the best.

Aluko is poor IMO - but she's had to take an inordinate amount of stick from cretins like Barton and his followers because she dropped a bollock regarding the "goal a game quote".

She's been hammered for this time and time again, despite mistakes from male pundits being overlooked. The Chris Kamara sending off meme being a prime example. Imagine if Aluko has no idea who was sent off and started laughing. She'd be absolutely crucified.

In a similar vein, listening to Merson try to pronounce a surname with more than 6 letters makes the ears bleed. But then he's "played the game" and is here for the Bantz and Lols.

My theory is that if you've a problem with Aluko and her inaccuracies then this is fine. But similarly so, you then can't excuse Tim Sherwood the next time he hasn't a clue who's scored for Leicester or laugh off when Merson tries to articulate Szoboszlai shooting on target.

Merson gets so much airtime because of his previous alcohol, drugs and gambling addictions

Most of the female golf commentators, Laura Davies being the exception, haven’t played the game to a high professional level , Inci Memet , Iona Stephen’s are brilliant presenters and commentators .

I would rather listen to people who have achieved more in the game. Wright knows more about Football than most.

Male or female, most of them are crap anyway. I turn a game on a couple of minutes before kick off, and do something at half time, most of them add nothing so not worth listening to. I turn off as soon as game has finished, I've sometimes turned telly off and then come back an hour or so later, turn telly on and they're still talking about the game, wtf can there be to talk about for so long.

Similarly I gave up on MOTD probably 5 or 6 years ago as it's more punditry than action these days.

It's symptomatic of the way modern football is, and it's borezzzzzville.

There are two exceptional sports commentators in Gabby Yorath and Clare Balding, with regards female football pundits there isn't a good one, sorry if that offends, but most of them are tokens for a woke society nothing more.

Agree. Everything gets analysed now. VAR, formation, press, wind direction, subs, type of boots worn, length of hair, colour of shirt, favourite pre-match meal etc etc. Just put the football on with a decent commentary and leave it at that...

Remember when Motd, had Des Lynham hosting it. And the pundits were Jimmy Hill, Alan Hansen, Trevor Brooking, Terry Venables, and Gary Lineker.
There was little or no excitement then, but at least they knew what they were talking about.
These days though they seem to want to add the personality thing as well.
To try and excite and amuse as well, like Kamara and Merson and Richards etc.

Spot on SD, the only way to make it equal is all matches have a presenter team of 4 made up of 2 Men and 2 Women. That would be all matches though and although would be a model of equality it would seriously increase the number of Men commentating on Women's football which is not what this lady is talking about.

The only fare way is segregation but that would be a backward step.

Good points. She wasn't piping up at the lack of men when 23 of 25 at the last women's World Cup were female.

Eni Aluko and a rant about discrimination.

    Well i never.

Whilst I support her stance on the abuse she has received from Barton I can't back her on this.
