Never forget getting stranded on the M1 once. I was driving back with my boss from a meeting in Watford
hoping to make a 7-45 pm kick off for a League game down at the 'Well. Heard on the
radio at around 2-30pm, that a low loader with a couple of JCB's on board had overturned and caught
fire, leaving a crater in the carriageway. Road finally cleared at around 11-30 pm which allowed us to
continue our journey. Seriously hacked off, even more so , when I heard we'd won and it had been a very
    good game.

A friend of mine was on a training course in Woking (or Wokingham - always get the two confused), and coming back up the M1 got stuck behind a crash at Leicester Forest (just past the pull off to the services). This was sometime in the late afternoon and he was due on shift at 7am next morning. By the time it was cleared, he was only just on time for work the next day :(
