I understand it actually, most blokes probably wouldn't care if a woman was in the men's toilets anyway. On the flip side you can see why a woman may be worried about men in the ladies. Sadly I can just imagine a bloke with a few beers in his claiming to be transgender and heading into the ladies.
It's just a sad situation all round. It must be truly awful to be biologically one Sex and want/identify as another. I can't imagine the mental toll that must take on a person and as I have said previously when you have posted on the subject I have so much respect for anyone dealing with those issues. However ultimately we can't deny biology. It's painfully obvious why different categories for men and women exist in so many sports. So while everyone of those female swimmers would outperform the average man of the street a medicore level Male Swimmer would instantly be competing with the top women. It just isn't fair at all, allowing biological men to compete in women's sport makes a mockery of women's sport.
Very cagey subject.... the issue is Lia Thomas is a woman in her feelings but a man physically... methinks, personally, we should have a transgender sports event? But is that labelling summat that should or should not be there? End of the day she's a woman in her own right!
That's a good idea. Being born a man you're going to be at an advantage in female event. If Tyson Fury went through a sex change and became a female Boxer he would break all sorts of records as one example.
A transgender person walking up side of them in urinal and flopping it out. Each to their own n' all that. Could be a fancy dress party or stag do. Live n' let live.
Worse; he doesn’t have to go through a sex change, he just has to identify as a woman. Im struggling with this issue lately. I have absolute sympathy for the many trans people who have suffered in many ways. But this issue has been grasped by some really toxic individuals who are using ‘trans’ rights as a way to attack women politically, and even physically and sexually.
Hearing her speak about the girl who was 17th with only 16 places available really hits home the point. If we take it to a extreme example and had 16 transgender swimmers would it be acceptable to ha e no Biological Woman in the women's race?
I too have had mixed feeling on these issues it's why I started the thread. I very much think of myself as someone who supports equality and as a sub section of that Trans rights. But there are issues that are solely based on biological reality, like sport. In my mind Trans rights are about society accommodating trans people & respecting their gender identity where it's reasonable to do so. Not at the disregard of some very hard earned Woman's rights.
Maybe it isn't a fair comparison, but you wouldn't put a world champion heavy weight boxer against a featherweight - because it isn't fair. Have any of you seen trans women v biological women in MMA? It's crazy.
You’re seemingly obsessed by this point. From my experience all the transgender people I know would be quite the opposite. They’d be horrified to show off the thing that doesn’t define them. I haven’t read the article as it seems to be just from the picture a trans bashing article. But the issue of Transgender and changing room is the main driving force of anti trans in the US. The sports issue is a real problem and needs to be thought about and addressed properly.
Left unchecked I believe the "sports issue" will just cause harm and destruction to Womens sport, seemingly due to the refusal to accept a biological fact.
