We've had some absolutely appalling left footed left backs post Barnard. Do you also despair at right footed left midfielders or is Hammill ok?
Was on myself, bought in advance when tickets went on sale.i got cat b too!! Probs depends who they play.
Do you go week in week out? You should have mentioned it Oh Great One. You should write a book on how to be a proper football fan. I assume it will start with not having a job, life or responsibilities.
I prefer a left footed left back. With a left footed left back going on the overlap and Hammill cutting inside it gives us so many options. I don't rate Pearson in that position either, but I know he's only there because of injuries and we have three ahead of him when everyone is fit. He looks limited, but he's working hard and he's playing out of position. I'll reserve judgement until after the new year, after Hecky and the team have had a chance to work with him on the training ground, when he'll be a lot fitter than he is now and probably playing in a position to which he is better suited. I think that will be sitting in front of the defence and giving anyone who dare attack us a proper good kicking.
We've got one left back Jay and Three right backs. We needed two in each position. Basics. People are saying we was okay defensively. For me he was off it. He's reactive rather than proactive. Like you've mentioned. It's not just his own game he's affecting but others. Anyone infront of him will feel the effect especially a natural right footer. Harvey Barnes looks a real talent but he's got two on him all the time. Pearson didn't go past much apart from on a counter where he really needed to be composed. Composure and we have two or three in the box. He rushed things and the ball ended up near the 10 or so police men in the corner.
Pearson was no better or worse than anyone else today so it's unfair to single the lad out... We've got a decent draw away from home so I think rather than calling players out we should just enjoy a good result and performance.
To be fair I don't rate Pearson at left back. It doesn't mean I'll castigate him though. It isn't his position, I don't think he's a full back never mind a left sided one. Fryers and Yiadom to come back, I imagine both would play left back over him. And before you say Yiadom is right footed and no good, don't. He's the best full back at the club. Seem to recall Denis Irwin looking decent for Man Utd for years as a right footed left back. They did ok. Paolo Maldini, over 1000 professional appearances for Milan and Italy. Mostly at left back. Right footed. He was proper *****...
Click the link, then scroll down about halfway. https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1192379/Live/England-Championship-2017-2018-Preston-Barnsley Yes, stats are stats. 7 successful tackles, 4 interceptions, 3 clearances and 2 blocked shots. He defended brilliantly. He's a defender. Up against a very quick winger. He was rated 7.5. The winger? 6.5. He did his job. Not every full-back has to bomb on and do his wingers work for him. But I'm talking to a brick wall here. Let's just say, Hecky knows what he's doing. Pearson is rated 12th out of 352 players by Who Scored after six games of the season. I trust stats/Hecky over a lad who wanted Kpekawa in the team over Yiadom.
Whitey makes the most relevant point for me. If we accept that we must firstly shut the back door then you need full-backs that defend and not just look good going forward. Is Pearson the left -back we need long-term? Possibly not but from what I`ve seen of him he`s a whole-hearted player who is trying his nuts off. For me that`s enough for now.
Andy please don't start quoting me that nonsense. It's up there with the official site's statistics with utter fantasy. If the full match was on ifollow I would go through and highlight the problems.
Just a little fun from another did from Andy. It says we get full match reply's for £4.99. Preston had theres up for 8 hours. Yes Andy, they have 17,000 media members. We believe you, honest
I take it you didn't take Andy's offer to go and spend a day with the media team? Too much like a days work, I assume.
Oh go on, I've just finished work and could do with a laugh. Have you given up on your TMS thread, by the way? I was looking forward to your justification regarding Theresa May and Rupert Murdoch, but you seem to have forgotten about it.
Three things for you to learn: - 1) Respect. 2) The value of money. 3) The meaning of hard work. Your attitude to a bloke who works his ****** off for our club, including giving up most of his weekends, is deplorable. I know I shouldn't reply but you just ask for it.
