That was over a 42 game season I believe. The equivalent of scoring 54 goals over a Premier League season
Depends what they spend it all on. They got fortunes at the time for bale and spent most of it on players who ended up being garbage like Lamela, Soldado etc.
400000 per week is obscene. That is more money in one week than I will ever see for the rest of my life.
I completely agree. In fact, obscenity in football was eclipsed a long time ago in terms of wages and transfer fees. £400k a week is £20.8m a year before bonuses. The positive things that could be done with £20.8m.
Last player to beat 40 league goals in a top division season was Jimmy Greaves in 60/61 (41 for Chelsea). Before that you are looking at the 30s, with Dixie Dean (twice), Tom Waring, Ted Drake and Vic Watson. (Longer season then though) https://www.worldfootball.net/top_scorer/eng-premier-league/
I think Son is the key man. Son can play with anyone. Son can lead the attack or play off a front man.
To be honest I don't care much about PL teams or who wins it. But from an English football perspective players like Grealish and Kane going to the biggest clubs and playing with the world's best has got to be good for our prospects at next year's world cup
Sickening too, that these wages aren't paid for out of the equally ludicrous TV deal money pot. It's the likes of me 'n thee that fund it, albeit PL team fans getting fleeced over far more than we do.
Given at least half of that will go into the treasury as some form of tax, think of the positive things that are being done with £10.4m.
It doesn't buy too many test and trace programmes does it? ;-) get some good expenses out of it though. May even fund a duck pond or maintain a moat or two.
The source of this story is The Sun, by the way. TalkSport are just quoting from it. I'd take it with a pinch of salt at this stage.
Stronger without him? Who's gonna score their goals? They've absolutely no other goal threat on a regular basis other than Son and Kane
