    It's the God of the gaps theory, anything not yet understood is attributed to God. However such a God becomes an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance that's getting smaller and smaller and smaller as time moves on.

    That's not too far from the basic premise of "America Gods" by Neil Gaiman. The lesser/older gods (of which there are over 3,000 and over 300,000 if you count many from Hinduism) lost power when people stopped worshipping them, and plotted to regain power from the new gods of technology and consumerism.

    All religion are fair game. I'll criticize Christianity, Islam, Judaism or Jediism. I know a lot more about Christianity than any of the others, though, so I focussed on that.

    The part where it was very much normal to marry as young as 6, should the girl go through puberty at that age, which happens. In some places, it could still be classed as normal, today.

    I didn't say it was normal. Although it probably was in Islamic society. If it was good enough for the prophet.....
