Neither do I, but I do want the extraordinary leaders to have some empathy and understanding of ordinary people. Rees-Mogg, who is extraordinary for all the wrong reasons, certainly doesn't.

The Right Honerable Minister for the Eighteenth Century, he is a character, interesting and livens up politics. I just don't want him in charge of anything important, the same with BoJo.

I don't particularly like JRM or what he stands for, but I think people lose sight of the fact that 99% of politicians IMO will go into that line of work to try and improve society etc.... now that vision may not be ours of course but they are human beings (mostly!) and there is also a degree of patomime performance in the house. Im sure a lot of them from both sides will socialise with each other, for example.

I don't doubt JRM meant what he said about JC. They are playing a game most of the time and it will be occasions like this when the mask slips.

JRM will always be the guy who wore a full suit in 30+ degrees weather, alongside his son in a wool jumper and long sleeved shirt.

He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth whilst this Covid-19 **** is going down. Is he self-isolating in the Cayman Islands counting his tax-free millions?

I was being intentionally provocative when I originally posted this thread and asked does it change your opinion of him. It doesn't change my opinion of him, I still think he is arrogant, supercilious and remains locked in the 19th century. My cynical nature is asking why he said it publicly.?

He's annoyed with the endless carping. Can a member of the government go a day without saying something stupid?

No, you’d have to be at least one of the following if not all: extremely gullible, thick, naive beyond belief, to ever think Rees-Mogg is anything like just ok for the majority of the populace.

Folk will 'carp' on whilst ever we have nothing but a group of dead trout running the country. He's beyond parody, even Spitting Image will struggle to write material, maybe other than him rounding up all black and brown MPs and ordering their flogging. Though that's not beyond the realms of fantasy the way things are going.
