Exactly my thoughts. I was constantly on edge when he had the ball. To say he's replacing a guy who was so comfortable and classy on the ball, I dont see it working.

Oooo I cant wait for in a couple of years, when as usual I'll have been proved correct.

Terrific with both feet, terrific passer, great dribbler and good with free kicks. John Stones certainly doesnt have the technical ability to be taking free kicks.

That's how I see McDonald more Roberts-lite than a replacement for Mawson. I think he's done ok so far no better or worse so I'd like to see Jackson to see if he is any better than ok.

Disagree. Don't think he's terrific with both feet. He's worked on his left a lot & it's improved but it's certainly not terrific. For someone to have 2 terrific feet they've got to be genuinely 2 footed, like Butterfield was.

I didn't think his passing was as good as a lot suggested, he gave the ball away a fair bit. I thought he was poor when played in midfield.

Free kicks isn't something I'd look at when talking about how good a player is on the ball. No idea if Stones has ever took free kicks but Mellis took virtually all our set pieces when Stones broke in the team & an 18 year old defender just breaking into the team isn't going to be asking to take them. I don't think he'd ever get the opportunity to even practice them at Everton or City.

What like you were with Hourihane?

Exactly like I was with Hourihane. The points I used to make about having to sacrifice a striker to accomodate an extra midfielder to cover him, costing the team on the whole has been 100% proved correct. He's worked at a lot of the points I used to raise about him and can obviously now play very well in a 2 man midfield, coincidentally coinciding with the terrific form we've shown over the last 10 months or so.

Footballs really not a hard game as long as you know what your on with.

Perhaps talking about free kicks I should have said Mawson has better technique. Tbf free kick taking isnt particularly high on my list of priorities when looking at a good centre back but its always a bonus to have.
