I know you like a crowd and a bit of attention big boy but , someone's sexuality is personal to that individual. Get to bed brother it's safe there x
Can't believe this question is being asked to be honest, everyone should be able to live their life's as they see fit legally.
Thomas Hitzlsperger the former Villa midfielder came out but after he retired. Cant be sure but I dont think he received much in the way of comments either when he played or after he retired.
Totally agree, I have quite a few friends and aquanitances who are of various sexuality. It does not make them bad people. You missed the point completely as always.
It would be interesting to see how many players are in fact gay. I am sure there will be some, but I think the culture within football has probably put a lot of prospective gay footballers off from even entering the sport, and who would blame them for giving it a wide berth?
The first high profile footballer to come out will become a poster boy and will suddenly face a whole new wave of pressure and scrutiny on top of what they already face day to day. I can’t imagine many young lads would want to put themselves through that. People want it to happen to try and remove the stigma and encourage others to follow suit. It’s quite disgusting that we’re still having this debate in 2020 to be honest. Even in sports where there are plenty of out players, they’re still known as they gay one’. I also wouldn’t believe a player is straight just because they have a ‘GF’ and are seen out in public with them.
Unless they live in a homophobic country - fortunately the UK is no longer one of them, at least for now, but there are still a fair few around the world Like the ones mentioned here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51801384
That's quality . Secretly, did you have a part in 'love the neighbour'. or 'death does us part'?. so funny !
you are like a dog with a bone, give it a rest. And no I did not have parts in those shows.... but was a major player in The Benny Hill Show.
This thread is hilarious and shows exactly why there's no 'out' male gay footballers. 'Society' got over homosexuality years ago, but as always with broad brush statements - that hides some sectors* of society who are way behind the curve. There is literally no other public group as large as 'male professional footballers' that has no obviously gay members. *Football fans should be ashamed of themselves for being part of that minority, I really don't know the answer - but reading here, it's not about to change.
I honestly don't see why not. Of course it wouldn't stop the in depth debates on here or social media but in general I don't think the vast majority of fans would care.
For me it would have to be a top player, who is 28-33 age range, who would be able to pull it off. The media would be massively supportive & the fans of a star player at their club. Rugby is a different sport entirely fans wise, but Gareth Thomas has to be the blueprint. He's been attacked, but has become more of a hero & celebrity by being open & telling his story, but he was already a hero on the field when he came out. I agree that gay players don't need to "come out," but if the right one does, no one will be bothered in 3 years time if it's found out loads of players are gay.
My view is simple.. straight / gay, whatever.. Why the need to publicy annouce your personal choice? Just get on with your life as you wish. We as football fans for instance do not need to know, unless the person is seeking attention for the fact. If that is the case, then don't complain if it goes against the views of others. Same with stuff like vegans just as an example. Fine live how you want to, just don't get why it is deemed news and the need to publicise the fact.
I agree, but what if someone wants to? PS don't totally fits in with a vegan argument. We've stretched that one out already on here.
who cares, I do not need to know anything about our players personal lives, just want them to play well for our team
