Struber the striver, love it. Sums him up. He has an incredibly difficult job, but is clearly having a very good go at it.
I think we'll persuade 5 players to stay who were originally intending to leave, then bring in 2 new players. So that's 7 new players altogether.
It Struber said it before Murphy told the world then it's a special trick. Otherwise isn't Struber simply agreeing with what Murphy had publicly said?
Or, when they sat down to discuss the possibility of the job and Struber started to talk about changes he wanted to make he could have said it too. Its not inconceivable that they both could have said it.
In his RS interview I'm sure he stated that coaches like Gerhard prefer a smaller squad to work with after explaining why the squad was too large .
This is true. Rads is a one year deal. Collins a four year deal. Both need to stay. Walton should be loaned out - he’s not gaining anything by being stuck in the U23s. I think Thiam, Cavare and Pinnilos will go in Jan. Some others will be loaned out - Green, Walton and Styles. McGheehan needs to stay - as cover or possibly to play in L1 next season. If Wilks is in the right frame of mind, he needs to stay too - otherwise loan out. With loans, it’s tricky as sometimes you just don’t get the level of club you need for a player to develop more.
Radlinger only has a year contract so we'd be very foolish to let Collins go in order to trim the squad.
I’d take this with a pinch of salt but, was talking to Thiam last Saturday. He was out in Sheffield with some of the Sheffield United squad. He said he loves Barnsley, and wants to remain here.
Absolutely staggered by Jordan Williams interview and the revelation that Struber had got one of the full backs to stay back whilst the other was pushing up. That tactical error of leaving too few at the back has been plain to see for most observers. I assumed it was more an issue of the players not following the plan properly but it would seem that there was no previous instruction for the full backs to plan against the break.
Surely the idea is that the holding midfielder covers the full back that is going forward, so you still have 4?
I don’t know that, only guessing he is a potential one due to lack of game time. With him I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t care but that he doesn’t keep himself in as good as shape as he could do
Given the amount of game time he's had, I'm surprised he's happy with that. I also don't see how he fits our formation. I don't think attitude is the issue with Thiam. His build means more than 60 mins of intense running & he is spent. He's made a decent contribution over the time he's been with us, but I just don't see how he has a future in the Struber team.
