If you allow for poor bowling, genius batting and a massive dollop of luck, then you'll never declare. Might not get a better chance to win a test in this series, and they seem intent on blocking it away. Root's not even looking like declaring any time soon. It's bizarre.
Plenty of overs left today. (30) Bat for another 15. But at a higher tempo than present. Then let them face 15.
Calm down Helen! As it stands 385 runs in over 100 overs is still doable. We'll declare soon and have a bowl at them today (honest!)
It's been really good so far but getting boring now. Wouldn't they rather get them out sooner and put their feet up for the rest of tomorrow?
We're grinding them into teh ground, keeping them out in the heat. Also keeping them guessing when we declare as they only get 10 minutes to change innings
Can't see them getting 385+ on this wicket. We may come to regret not declaring sooner rather than later. I'd aim for 400 max and put them in for the remainder of today.
Don't we need wins though to qualify for the summer? Also, India well happy to not lose this one I'd imagine.

That was kind of the point I was making. If they declared and set a target of (say) 370, India may feel it would be achievable (if the planets align), and actually go for it, which combined with the scoreboard pressure would make them easier to get out(much more chance of knicking behind off an attacking drive rather than a front foot block, for example). Bat them out of the game even more, they will just shut up shop and block the game out...
The longer we wait the worse the pitch gets. I assume that’s the thinking. Get the pitch as bad as possible for the start of the 4th innings.
Declarations are always a contentious issue but this is baffling just feels like we are taking time out if the game rather than anything else.
Was very hard to tell, looked like it was pad first but certainly not conclusive. However if it's not clear then they stick with the on field decision.
Not be honest I'm kind of hoping for quick wickets I can't for the life of me understand why we haven't declared here.
They're all still in their training gear, 70 mins from close of play on day 4, with a lead over 400. Absolutely shocking.
