Keep him and stay up - we'll lose far more from being relegated than we gained in that tiny fee for selling him. It has been a disaster.

So reading all the posts so far if we go down it won make any difference than staying up . We ,the , supporters are therefore following a club now with zero ambition other than making money. Rather disappointing is an understatement for those who remember the days when we tried to advance the club up the league with directors who were fans of the club ,not the attitude of the present board to make money. Our co-chairmans post when we won at Fulham speaks volumes. Never posted when we lost to Birmingham, Charlton, Derby etc.

No I dont agree with your opening statement- If we go down I think we will sell more players than if we stay up - in fact if we stay up I don't think we will sell more than 1 regular starter - the board do want the club to progress and I dont believe they are quite as cavalier about player sales - they also accepted the need tor a bit of experience finally - probably too late - what they cant do though is let players run down their contracts and leave for nothing so any players with a year left who wont extend must be considered at risk - harder to get extensions if we go down

If we do some how stop up then technically the plan has worked so why wouldn't they rinse and repeat?? I have no doubt whatever division we are in next season woodrow, brown and mowatt wont be here. And probably Chaplin too if we get a offer. Thats why im not renewing my season ticket even if i end up missing a league one promotion season......

That's the most disappointing thing about this regime for me. I knew we'd still sell players when they came in, but I did expect us to start getting good money for those who did with their personal wealth (if believed) behind the club. Even David Blunkett could see that Pinnock was worth more than £3m.

He’s worth a lot more with 1-2 years on his contract but with just months to go clubs were lining up to offer better personal terms at the end of his contract , Brentford came in with the offer and agreed us an interest in his future .
Whether his retention for another four or five months would have made any difference to our plight is open for debate but it certainly wouldn’t have been any worse .

If we stay up - then I don’t expect any players to be sold unless:
    1) Surplus to requirements.
    2) They have a year or so on their contract and refuse to extend their contract.

My take is that Alex, Cauley and Jacob are as good as gone irrespective of the division. Sad, but let's face it's what most Reds fans are expecting.

Prepare to be disappointed then, stay up get relegated makes no difference if offers come in players go it's that simple

The club will sign new players. In 2014 the club released Steele and sold O'Grady fans were crying in their pints then the club signed a new squad pretty quickly including Winnall, Hourihane and Berry with Scowen joining in the January window. After sacking Wilson the club climbed as high as sixth before fecking it up.

In summer 2018 the club released Hammill and sold Bradshaw. The world had ended but they brought in Bahre, Dougall and Woodrow. Managed to keep hold of Lindsay for another season and played Davies every week (just about) despite him being out of contract. The world didn't end we got promoted.

We may still stay up this year? If we go down the club might keep hold of as many players as it can to mount a push as it did last time. The previous two relegations under Cryne and then this regime the £6 million fall in revenue didn't seem to matter that much. The books were balanced nothing more. I don't get why it potentially makes so much difference this time around.

I can see players with a year left being sold if they won't sign new deals. Maybe Woodrow sold to breach the deficit. That isn't a given though with his contract length. Who knows?

    I’d add a 3rd and 4th option.
    3) Some club makes an offer for a player we cannot refuse.
    4) A player insists on moving no matter what the club says or offers eg like Pinnock did.

All four players wanted out Davies, Lindsay and Pinnock turned down new deals. Moore spent the summer brokering a move away.

Not alot more the club could have done. It's unfortunate the replacements weren't oven ready until December.
