My daughter was talking to me about just being an established Championship club. Wouldn't that be great? I'm still concerned with the selling aspect, lose Conor, Cauley and Brown and Struber will.face what Stendel had to in getting very young strikers not used to the championship but us fans expecting wins and goals. Still, next season is next season, hopefully the owners have seen the error of some of their decisions and push us forward as a team.
I liked Stendel, I genuinely did, but can’t shake the thought that even with an experienced player or two, we would have improved in the Championship. He arrived like a breath of fresh air, totally likeable and we took the league by storm but also surprise. A league up when his Playing style faUttered or go found out he seemed to struggle to adapt. Yes experience would have helped but whatever he did seemed to leave a helluva lot of gaps for other teams to exploit.
Stendel was great for us, as others said breath of fresh air, attacking football and really integrated himself into the Club and Community. However, when promoted we did sometimes struggle tactically and yes experienced players would have helped, but I suspect the style of play would have still been our downfall. Keep Struber in either league, he’s done enough to warrant it.
The style of play was what the board demanded after relegation in 2018 and, indeed, why Stendel was appointed in the first place,
TBH, it’s irrelevant of who decided it, the tactic would still have meant we would have struggled, which is the point I was making.
Of course it's relevant. The board got what they demanded, then didn't bring in players who could automatically play at Championship level when they signed them.
I wouldn’t disagree with any of that but it’s irrelevant to the point I was making about the issue was the tactics. I have laid no blame to anyone just the fact the tactics would always have made us struggle. If you read my post I said experienced players would help.
Don't come with the condescension with me, I read all your post. I haven't done it with you, so a reciprocal response would be appreciated.
The Brentford game we lost 1-3 due to tactics. I knew then Stendel was out of his depth. With experienced slower legs it would have been a cricket score. It was only because we had young lads we were able to make a few last ditch tackles.
It was not meant to be condescending at all TBH, I was just responding to where you said experienced players were needed. I was just trying to show I had already agreed with your point.
I think Preston have been been under rated this season. They tore us a new one at home too. Might have just been a bad day at the office. Those two games (Brentford and Preston) do stick in my mind though and his constant picking of Mcgeehan.
