I’m a BIGGER Barnsley fan now than I have been for decades ......

By rights, where I was born I should have been either a Dagenham and Redbridge or a West Ham fan. Alternatively I should have been a Blackpool fan when we moved there for a few years when I was 7 but was never interested that much in football, (except for the '66 World Cup ) as there was much more interesting stuff to do in Blackpool in the 1960s.

Fortunately, I only got interested in footy when we moved to Barnsley when I was 13. There was much less to do in Barnsley on a winter's afternoon on a Saturday, I went to Oakwell with a couple of mates and got bitten by the bug spending my pocket money stood behind the goal in the Ponty every home game watching the likes of the two Erics (Winstanley and Brookes) Bob Earnshaw, 'Spud' Murphy, Robson and Roy Ironside etc. in front of 14-15k (even in the days of the 4th division). We used to walk there and back from Monk Bretton and I remember Burton bank being a 'right tow' when we had lost having walked to the match up Harboro Hill and standing for 2 hours on the terraces. Special occasions (I remember Leicester City in the FA Cup I think there were 2 replays?) I splashed out and got West stand upper tickets, I think they were 5 bob (old money) for centre block .

All that means there's only one team for me - You Reds!!!

Well that’s not hard nudge is it !
You’ve e been fickle at best over years .
Few times you’ve posted on here about going in town rather down well and was it last season or season afore you refused to get a season ticket?
