Mixed emotions on this. I don’t think he’s got the right type of mentality to consistently give his all & effect games over a full season but and this is the big but - do we trust Mladen to replace him? I know I don’t. I hope we’ll be pleasantly surprised with our recruitment but I have very little confidence in the club. As for Humphrys, I’m sure he’ll have some great moments & might score a few beauties. I’d be very surprised to ever see him put together the type of season DKD just has. I don’t think he’s got it in his locker to show that kind of consistency.
Maybe he means a club who have just come up from Lg Two lol. But its what I was saying yesterday as well, that Milton Keynes are a struggling Lg Two club, but could we even compete with them. And its not just about the money though, do we actually have any appeal to players and managers/coaches anymore. Are they interested and excited maybe, at the chance of joining us. I think this lot have really destroyed the good positive reputation, we definitely used to have.
Considering our heightened attention to detail I'm assuming we've already started on his replacement so it will be interesting to see what standard of player we bring in.
I’ll put money on that we can. Don’t understand the love in with Humphrys. I wasn’t bothered either way if he stayed. Is he worthy as a top earner at the club………No. Was he worth a contract tho on a cheaper deal……yes probably. Better options out there than Humphrys that we can get on cheaper contract if you ask me. No major loss……..Move on and I’ll quickly forget him.
Really don't understand why people are interpreting this as a 'dig at the club'. I would personally have kept him 1 more year, but I'm not that fussed. Looked better in his natural position (shock, most players do) but overall he had a poor season. It's that simple for me, and if we as a club don't want to keep paying him because he only had 6 good games, a few other decent ones, then fair enough. Seems to me that people who really don't like the board are looking for stuff what isn't there. Trust me, there's enough ***** without having to look too far.
Huge ambition and massive fan base. Two things we couldn't compete with. Seems the MK Don's rumour wasn't right, fancy that.
I think you've missed part of his post. The club wanted to keep him but couldn't do so on the pre-agreed wages because they failed to meet criteria during the season so the contract extension clause wasn't valid. That meant they had to negotiate with him and they didn't reach an agreement. Which suggests the club did want to keep paying him but not for more than theyd agreed last year. Not a dig at the club from me. I wouldn't have kept him at all. He's bone idle. I am interested in what criteria we failed to meet though. League position? Game time? Other signings?
He put a fairly similar tweet out when leaving Wigan last year. Along the lines of ‘the club can’t afford me so I’m off. I’d have loved to have stayed but they can’t match my wage demands’ seems to be the narrative he uses to dry deflect any greed hatred he may get.
https://www.bradfordcityafc.com/news/2025/june/20/humphrys-chooses-claret-and-amber/ Sounds like he's known a while he would be going there.
He’s a marquee signing for them. He wasn’t for us. Good luck to him - he’s quite open about him moving around a lot and earning the best deal he can each time. Was to be expected - only what happened at Wigan.
He’s good at picking out sound bites to get the fans onside. Shame he’s a fairly ineffective player. I’m sure he will do great for them in his last 10 games at the end of his 2 year deal.
Its not all about Mladen though. Its about Conor, the rectruitment team, the financial director, then you can include Mladen,Nareev and the board.Don't think every signing is down to one man because its not.Its a team effort. One players gone and it now leaves a space to fill.I would have kept him but if his demands were too much or if Conor wasn't over fussed at keeping him lets see what the next move is.Football has always been about ins and outs and will always be so.Looking forward now not backwards.
But they might be offering more because they might feel he'd be a better player for them than we think he'd be for us. He will also get yet another nice signing on fee.
Surprised he’s signed a 2 year deal with them. Thought he would just be dealing in 1 year deals from now on. Partner is from Bratfud so I’m expecting her dad to bring this up over the weekend. I’d have liked Humphrys to stay with us. He’s got a bit of spark and creativity that we could’ve done with for the upcoming season but ah well, we move on. Given we are apparently playing with wingers moving forward, who does that currently leave us with? Jalo, Cotter and Farrugia? I, like most, have high hopes for Jalo but he would do with playing 30 odd games without getting a fairly big injury. Farrugia could do with playing 30 minutes and not getting an injury. Cotter seems like a great guy and has the physical attributes but his end product and decision making is shocking. Let’s hope we have a couple of wingers lined up.
