Difficult to say, but since post lockdown I would say "we're in credit". I think we also need to include that when we're on the high front line press, the opposition aren't attacking, so their options are limited. This has to be taken into consideration as well imho
I'm not sure, hence why i'm curious what leads to our goals and if they are succeeding from a high press, or just naturally winning it back in other areas. My perception of the goals we concede, either individual errors giving the ball away or a direct ball over the top/down the channel that catches us out. Just perceptions without seeing the analysis.
Agreed. I said at the time that I have no idea what the defender was doing. He didn’t attack the ball, didn’t try to put Frieser off, simply did nothing.
I'm not sure either, because I am usually watching the game as a supporter and I am engrossed in the game. I think Murray ahs relaxed the press a little in the 2 games he's been in charge though and that has led to us been a more "traditional" side i.e. players behind the ball when the opposition have possession and counter with players going forward when we have it. I guess there is argument and counter-argument as to which system is best, but coaches have to pick something and stick to it (or at least have a plan b when something goes wrong)
We'll have to wait and see what the new coach brings to the table, because it looks like Murray isn't getting it now
I think we need to get some results on the board before a new guy comes in tinkering if that makes sense.
It does make perfect sense mate. I said all along that it's basically Murray's job until the next International break due to us playing Saturday-midweek for the next 3 weeks. Even if a new guy comes in tomorrow (unlikely) he won't be changing much.
If they were going to give it Murray I think they would have done by now. I think they know he is a fairly safe pair of hands to pick & coach the team in the short term. I think he's done OK. Less messing about at the back & more chances created. We did take two chances last night & got a draw against a strong team that put 8 past us in the two games last season. A little perspective required.
The longer Murray is in charge, the less time players have to settle into a new system and different requirements from the new coach. We could be waiting months for a good run of results, by which time it might be too late. And indeed, the new coach might make things worse or not gel with the players. But they knew Murray and haven't given him the job, so they have to get on and get a replacement in. I don't think it makes much sense to delay and delay before making an appointment. We've used up 6 games now from what many of us thought was a very generous series of opening fixtures and we're only 3 points to the good.
What if the new guy unsettles the players. I think the last two matches have been our two best performances thus far.
They either appoint him from the start, or they appoint externally. They aren't going to learn anything more from these few games that they didn't already know. Its the clubs decision to make, but just limping along for weeks on end don't help anybody.
Lots of if's and but's there guys. We need a head coach announcement soon, that is certain. Does the new guy upset the applecart? Million dollar question isn't it, but we're paying for professional football players, so they will need to be "professional" about any changes the new guys wants.
