Frustrating thing is that until Helik's dismissal on 42 mins there looked to be no way we would lose that game; you'd have put us down as winning it. Reading looked poor, causing us no problems.

A big, controversial decision by the ref that changed the game completely.

There's a difference between us viewing it as a nothing game (I was meaning from a free hit suspensions wise) and playing our reserves. It's a good opportunity for us, but I wouldn't risk losing Helik for a much more important game next Saturday by trusting the EFL to overturn the red card. Accept it and move on.

    Depends on the refs report.

If he says serious foul play for an elbow, then we should appeal as that is a 3 match ban.

If a professional foul, let it go.

    Found this interesting worth appealiing.
Under the Laws of the Game, what constitutes an obvious goalscoring opportunity is left to the discretion of the referee; however, several factors are given to help referees decide. These are: the distance between the offence and the goal, the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball, the direction of the play, the location and number of defenders.[6]

The offence is informally known as DOGSO, an acronym for "Denial of an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity".[7]

If the EFL and/or their associated testing organisation had got their finger out, we could have played Bambo at Chelsea.

Yellow cards yes, not red cards.

Doesn’t a straight red incur a three match ban anyone?

Not if it isn’t dangerous play or a serious foul. Denying a goal scoring opportunity is a one match ban

I’ve seen loads of yellow cards dished out to opposing teams for the same offence. Joao played for it and threw his body across helik

He played for it same as the Wednesday penalty a few seasons back. Exactly same scenario

That’s the thing when you have a young naive team against a team who cheat on and off the field by paying millions of pounds a season for players they shouldn’t be able to afford. They all know how to con the ref. We need a bit more of that in our game but we’re too honest
