Sis in law ( and hubby) who we usually go to live shows with. Is mindful of Covid due to underlying health issues. So not been to one yet. But hopefully Going to give Barnsley ‘live’ a scan. Any recommendations. Preferably rock. Got a workmate who’s a solo artiste. So will hopefully show up and give him some support.
My first post lockdown cultural experience was the ballet last Thursday night and it was great seeing live performances again. First gig is at the end of next month - Billy Bragg at the Barrowlands
Went to the Long Division festival in Wakefield on Saturday - several venues visited - a number of cracking bands. Great day as per usual.
Been to 2 so far. One at Leeds Stylus in July and then one at Sheff Arena last Friday. Both were incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Saw Big Vern at the Swingletree in Kelly Bray. Great night had by all. Nice to be back to live music.
I had a drink with Paul & Dave Hemingway a few times in the early 90's. They used to hang around my local in Hyde Park. Good lads. Saw the Housemartins on their first UK tour at the Leadmill Sheffield. Great singer.
The only gig I've seen recently was a jazz trumpeter called Malcolm Strachan. He has a band called Haggis Horns, who are more jazz / funk. They provided some of the horns for the "Back to Black" LP & he's also touring with Martha Reeves at the minute. We drank the bar dry after the gig with him & the sax player, Athol, who is also in Haggis Horns. Great night. DJ'd a reggae festival a couple of weeks back, some great acts on there. Caught most of them.
Look out for Besar in Evoo.(about half 5 or so) We're on a couple of hours before them, I'd give us a miss ;-)
We're on in Soho Institue at 6pm. Very classic rock feel, but without the quality. Be a laugh though.
Seeing Billy in Sheffield in November Coming up. Genesis in Glasgow and Paul Heaton in Liverpool to look forward to
Thanks Might come and say hello. Not showing Besar on the app. ? Guess the line ups haven't been released on the app for this year. ?
