It is one of many terms reclaimed by the (black) hip hop community in the 90's. I enjoyed that period of music. No white people used those terms & that is my ongoing rule.

Some were indeed complicit. But if you keep knocking your head on a brick wall. And superiors don’t listen and leave it where it is. By obeying those above . Then things grind to a halt. Was the same as when statements were altered during the Hillsboro disaster. Some did as they were told as what to put. Some altered. Some refused. It was believed thatcher was complicit in that fact. Those at the top tried to cover their arse. And a lot of bobbies took criticism unnecessarily. Lots of people are scared to speak out. fearing consequences, some put their neck on the line and suffer consequences. What a pathetic world we live in.

Hypothetical scenario..... two men discussing "their bitches" in a pub, overheard by a woman taking great offence and complaining to the landlord about offensive language having only heard the word 'bitches'. Turns out they are registered dog breeders ;)
This is just to illustrate the point that language is contextual. The main problem is people taking offence when overhearing conversations they are not part unless the person or persons to whom the offensive comment or word was aimed at is clearly distressed and or unable to defend themselves. If not they should bascially mind their own business and not creaqte a sitaution that would otherwise not exist. If involved in the conversation or discussion then they may have a right to complain if they feel something has been said that is offensive as is the obviously the case if the defamatory or racist comment is aimed at them .

As has already been discussed, since challenging racists, for example, in a confrontational public manner is unlikely to change their attitude and more likely to escalate or inflame a situation, it is more often the challenger who is merely demonstrating virtue signalling. This does indeed entrench views of those already racist, sexist etc.
Clearly there are exceptions where, media, social media broadcast to a non specific target audience containing blatant sexist, racist language not being used ironically to highlight an issue is justifiably challenged, but again, it has to be obvious that it was NOT being used to highlight racism, rather expose it to ridicule. An example is the Alf Garnett character in 'Til death us do part'where some people now calling the programme abhorrent and racist simply do not understand that the whole point of it was to ridicule his views in a comedic setting and juxtaposed against the moderate liberal views held by his daughter and son in law. Comedy barbs and humour can often be far more powerful and persuasive than a direct full on assault.

    Yes.

Disappointingly most of the Cyril Smith stuff remains under lock and key and his protectors have also met their demise.

Whereas 'Daddy' and his cohorts. Not only are their protectors still yet to shuffle off this mortal coil there is no real appettite to.

On top of this. They are having 100s of thousands in legal aid to fight their deportation back to Pakistan.

And the grooming hasnt stopped. Its still happening in Rochdale. Still happening in Rotherham.

One day I hope it all comes to light.
