My bad 2 out of 3 in the 1st half I'd put down to William's that game. The 1st goal was William's man on the corner loses him and nods in the 3rd goal from a corner loses William's and slots home William's then got.took off at half time.
You might have been mistaken on the specific example but the general point holds. In the halcyon days of December 2016 we had four (ie the bare minimum needed) credible first team strikers - Winnall and Bradshaw who were the men mainly in possession, plus Watkins and Armstrong. We now only have two in Woodrow and Chaplin, so, along the way, the policies, lack of replacements (eg Winnall never replaced, Moore never replaced), smoke and mirrors about who is a replacement for who etc have led us to denude our credible starting striker options to ridiculously low levels. And please don't give me Schmidt, Victor, Miller and co - they aren't credible regular starters at this level and there were equivalents of equal mediocrity anyway at that point in 2016 with the likes of Payne, Lee, Jackson, Tuton etc.
I find it very hard to get mad about the sale of a player that wants to leave. These are people were talking about, not inanimate objects. There’s no point trying to keep a player that wants to leave. We as fans will never know completely what goes on behind the scenes, but I refuse to hold a grudge against a player that wants to advance their career (or increase their bank balance) or a club that works with a player to let them achieve that while also getting something for the club.
Late to the party here but for me most were not bad 3 stand out errors Roberts Pinnock and Moore. Also error not to extend Connor as soon as we won the Playoffs Mark Roberts - Bad decision probably wouldn’t have gone down with him Brad Potts - Turned out to be a good decision Brown good replacement and we got good £ Liam Lyndsay - ok by me though not at the same time as Pinnock Tom Bradshaw - Replaced by Woodrow good decision Angus Macdonald- great decision as he has hardly played since Alfie Mawson - no problem we had replacements and got good £ and he got to play prem Sam Winnall - good decision he didn’t want to be here and disruptive James Bree - poor decision we got good money but think we could have got more had he stayed and developed rather than warming the Villa bench Ethan Pinnock - very bad should have kept him and just sold Lindsay maybe plan to sell at Xmas once new Centre halves settled Kiefer Moore bad no replacement and cost us Connor Hourihane - Tricky one the mistake was not giving contract previous summer had to sell and James on loan was adequate temporarily Stevie Mallan good decision Knasmullner good decision
Agree. That’s why I only really take issue with the January 2017 dealings as we’d already made huge profits on Mawson & Stones that season. I don’t like it but fully understand us losing a star player each summer to balance the books
Agree with alot of those but brees contract was up that summer we would have got less at a tribunal and he wanted to leave.
