Gave it a few hours to calm down. Didn't work. Felt compelled to email the Club.

    My thinking too.

I'll respect any confidences they request in the reply, but I stand by every word I wrote.

To be honest, it'd be quite easy to find my details from the season ticket records so I see nothing 'sinister' in this request.

    Pfff.

I'm giggling like a ticklish 7 year old girl who has fallen into a box of tickling sticks.

No, I'm not suggesting that it's anything sinister, eherm, I just don't understand why in todays technological world that they couldn't reply via email. It saves money ( no paper & postage costs) and the environment (less paper used, less trees for the chop).

Maybe the reputed £2m 'war chest' has been earmarked for stamps and envelopes? :)

i replied saying that the club had my email address and they had a computer and seeing as it is the 21st century i find it is a perfectly acceptable means of communication and is also a lot quicker than post.

Got a second reply saying along the lines of if i wasnt willing to give my home address then my issue would not be discussed. I was disgusted to be honest

    The simple answer

is that you can't pass an email round the office, and use it to give the old bum cheeks a quick polish, before you send it off.
Ever sent an email with a pubic hair as an attachment ? see thats why the old snail mail is bestest

Got my reply back this morning and, to be honest, I'm fuming. If the intention was to try and alienate a long-standing season ticket holder into never paying another penny into the Club's coffers then GS certainly went the right way about it.

Its a 2-pager so haven't got time to quote it now but, in a nutshell, GS is upset that 'people like me' can criticise him.

It truly is the worst piece of PR I've ever seen in writing, and that's saying something! I was reluctant, prior to receiving it, about whether it was right to quote any reply received or not. However, this response is so 'wrong' in every aspect that it has to be seen to be believed.

Will post the transcript when I get chance.

    Interestingly

I've always had a sneaking suspicion that the people in charge of BFC, and not just the current incumbents, have always thought that the supporters of the club comprised solely of people with an IQ of 4 (I'm not saying none of them actually do.....)

If Shepherd wrote me a letter with "people like you" incorporated in a patronising manner he'd have a reply on his desk bloody quick asking him to explain why he thinks a fan can't actually have an ounce of business sense or commercial understanding.
