    I see this argument time and time again. These aren’t Asda or Amazon workers we’re talking about, they are multi-millionaire footballers. Unless they have been very badly advised, they will have more money coming in from interest and investments than we could afford to pay them in wages.

    They won’t ever need to work again, and if they want to play just for the love of the game, I doubt they’d choose to do it with us.

    The club he supported as a boy, and still loves. He didn’t go there for the money, although he’ll still be picking up a decent wedge.

    They might not need to work again, but they might want to continue playing. You’re a long time retired
