    Mulally is England's leading left arm seam test bowler. That's according to cricinfo, not sure that can be right. Can't believe Ryan sidebottom wasn't better than him.
    Can't think of any other contenders in the last 30years but there must have been some before!

    I've seen him bowl many times, he was a terrific bowler. Never got to see him bowl left handed though. Did you go to school with him?

    I can't remember much about Caddick's run up. Main thing to stick out about him was that he was mediocre in the first innings, then as good as anyone in the world in the second innings.

    Without looking it up, Sidebottom seemed to have a meteoric 12-18 months and then fell off a cliff so he probably didn't get the volume of tests Mullally had. I think the powers that be were hoping Topley might be the latest left arm incarnation of their holy grail. I think Mullally played quite a bit in a fairly mediocre spell of test cricket and be default, when you're in a bad side, you might pick up a few wickets as better bowlers aren't getting the lions share.

    I did like Caddick. I liked Neil Foster too. Can't remember who we were playing, but I recall him bowling (likely at Trent Bridge) with about 7 slips and hooping it round corners late in the day.

    Think you're right, he had a bad start then disappeared back to cc. When he came back he had some good performances but it was at the back end of his career.

    I don't mind Harmison but out of all the commentators for me they could just let every ball of every day be commentated on by David Gower and Ian Bishop.

    I don't mind the old guard. I'd rather listen to Bishop, Gower, Botham, Lloyd, Boycott and Atherton than Ward, Butcher, Hussain and co. I don't think it's any coincidence that players taking advice from Hussain, Butcher, Ward etc will be underperforming. All weren't the best.
