Well, good to see that the away game experience that I chose to bin off about 3 or 4 years ago has not improved. I think I am just getting less tolerant of stupid, ignorant or moronic people as I get older, but I haven't changed my mind about away games and can't see me doing so any time soon.
no smoking in the ladies loos and no trouble where I was. A minority booing taking the knee but almost unanimous applause from the rest, much more than I expected tbh. The more well behaved fans that stop going, the larger the minority that are ignorant in both senses will seem.
Or abide by the laws? Why is it that when some people choose to become a smoker they seem to think they have a god given right to do as they please? Drop tab ends on the floor and act like they've been hard done to if they're fined, told they can't smoke for a couple of hours at football so like the utter selfish pricks that they are they do it anyway. Drive a car? No problem, just drive with one hand while you smoke. I'll honestly never understand why they get away with so much.
From next Monday in Alberta Canada you no longer have to self isolate if you have covid.... https://www.peacearchnews.com/news/...-covid-19-cases-close-contacts-as-cases-rise/ If the time comes that's brought in here to go with the learn to live with covid term, it will put people off going to games.
I don’t have the answer. As an ex smoker I find it hard to fully criticise, knowing the addiction. ( but I personally would take other peoples health and welfare on board.) What I also know is, a few stewards are not going to deal with it. Some people think alcohol should be banned in the ground. But it’s catered for. Why? Cos they make money. Make a space for smokers if necessary. As I say. I’ve seen some grounds where they allow people outside to smoke at half-time. You’ve appeared to tar ( forgive the pun) everyone with the same brush. Should we ban alcohol, because of pissheads. Who can’t go 1hr without a pint.
Definitely not tarring everyone with the same brush, I made sure I wrote some people specifically to avoid doing that. I know quite a few smokers who are extremely conscious of other people. I was referring to those who know the law and the rules but do it anyway. Absolutely no defending them
Did it involve the 'bolton crackhead'?....... Anyone sat towards the left side of our fans as you looked towards the pitch will probably understand that reference, it caused mild amusement throughout the first half anyway.
Sat at the other side of the away end. So difficult to understand what the fuss was about. Saw one guy behind the gangway (Bolton fan) Flapping his arms on occasion.
Yeah it seemed the guy was more interested in playing up to the away fans than actually watching the match...... I find it pretty sad that these are actually grown men that wave there hands about and attempt to 'offer' someone out from about 200 metres away.
I agree with the last bit but sometimes I've found it had to share air with brain doners on away games. I've even had to move myself in the home ends before when been located in close proximity of morons.
My son and me were sat behind someone exactly like that when we played at Man City in the cup a few years back. I mean, how often do you get the chance to see the Reds at a place like that? Why would you spend your time jumping up and down and flirting with the away fans. Thankfully he never came back out of the bar for the second half.
I had hoped we would have at least had access to part of the North this season, if not the other half of the West as well, so we could spread out more. I think away fans should have been limited this season, so that vulnerable home supporters could have been looked after better. It looks like they still intend to cram us into the East, Ponty and half the West...which didn't appeal to me pre-COVID.
I didn't expect the north stand to have home fans in. I did hope the club would fix the knackered half of the west stand though and have it just for those worried about sitting elsewhere.
After the penalties some pillocks started having a go with the stewards at the side of my 9 year old son and his friend. I wasnt very happy. It was my lads first away game and was so excited and loved being there, unfortunately now its his and my last for a while.
