    friend visiting Wentworth House marvelled at the large building on his right as he turned into the grounds (think it was the Stable Block) Took photos etc then someone suggested he should take a look at the building a bit further on. He was absolutely gobsmacked when he saw size of The House.

    Aye mate. The big house was off the cultural map for many years. 2007, I was working for English Heritage & had a trip here, with fellow conservators & curators. They stayed at the Rock, me at Mam’s in Hoyland.
    We walked down the drive & they said ‘very impressive’. No, that’s the stables. 100 yards in & the house reveals itself. It was a bit OMG.
    I’m not into the aristocracy & that, but am impressed by stuff they built.
