Shane. The Crow. Dead Mans Shoes. Gladiator. Passion of the Christ. Apocalypto. Top Gun. Terminator 1 and 2. Carousel. Pulp Fiction. Resevoir Dogs. Senna.
Got the soundtracks to the first 3 American Pie films, a mash of Blink 182, Sum 41, All American Rejects, Good Charlotte etc etc, lovely Got a soft spot for the soundtrack to the film Drive.
I suppose it also depends on the definition of soundtrack. In terms of using existing music Remember The Titans is Motown-tastic, and the Lock, Stock soundtrack is brilliant. But in terms of original score, Jonny Greenwood's work for There Will Be Blood is amazing. You wouldn't want to sit and listen to it on its own, but it is a huge part of the film's success
My exact reasons for The Crow, Shane and Terminator in particular. Films would still be good, but the music pushed them further.
Terminator, Star Wars, Superman (John Williams) are also among my favourites but I think this has to be the best modern-day soundtrack (first 40s really).
My personal favourites -Plunkett and Mcleane - it's the soundtrack the champions league intro is taken from. But this is my favourite piece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roqIb8lEV20 And I'm not really sure whether it counts as it's a musical - but Baz Luhrmans Romeo and Juliet. Tremendous film.
