The last council, Thanet, that the previous iteration of Reform ran, went bankrupt within 7 months. It will be interesting to see how this new lot under Reform actually perform. I think those that voted for them may regret their actions in the not so distant future. At least they can now be held to account and show everyone what their intentions are, other than leave the ECHR and privatise the NHS, as I have absolutely no idea what their policies are or how they are going to fund them.

I thought Boris had already privatised it. Truth is it's been getting privatised since the Blair days bit by bit.

DePfeffel Johnson was an absolute charlatan, apparently having a way with words. It didn't take people long to work out what a disaster he was.

I just hope Farage gets nowhere near the levers of power. It would make Johnsons tenure feel like hedonism.

As for Labour, and I suspected this might be the case, they've not been close to power for so long that its almost caught them by surprise and agree with comms and messaging, it's naive and timid. I don't need a PM to be my friend, to think he's a laugh. Being a good orator can help, but I just want someone to govern fairly, evenly and take good decisions and acknowledge the real challenges of the day, not manufactured crap that is just used to stoke division.

the only trains the Tories are used to are the ones they pull at their boys clubs and in the dormitories at their private schools

No, it's free to use.If you're diabetic you don't pay a penny for your care, compare to America where your entire wages could cover medication and check ups, good luck with getting health insurance if you have any pre existing conditions.

Absolutely beyond my brain capacity that people can see what has happened in the USA over the last 100 days and think “I’ll vote for that guy with no policies”.

The main parties need to up their game before we get more chaos in the name of “they are all the same”. Someone, somehow needs to generate some fúcking growth so we are not dividing up the same ever-decreasing pot to pay for stuff.

It's also ironic that the biggest cheerleader for leaving the EU that has made our economy infinitely poorer and butchered trading with our biggest market is somehow benefitting electorally.

Having seen what Trump has done to people's pensions @Winker in not sure what else to think. And who uses the NHS the most, pensioners.

Why are people voting for him and his party?

They have virtually no policies and all they do is denigrate migrants and blow a dog whistle every now and then.

You're confusing being out of power, going through multiple leaders with very different policies with preparing for power. The longer you are out of power, the less experienced you are at pulling the levers and understanding the mechanisms. Labour first went with Sue Gray running operations to Morgan McSweeney, very much a shift from ops to political. And don't forget, any hint of expectation of power was two electoral cycles, not one.

As I understand it you don't have full access to everything as the opposition party. 14 years of rule, including Brexit is not going to be sorted in a year. Steamer needs to up his game though I agree.

It may be an over simplification to say that all Reform voters are racist, but if you are a Reform voter, how do you conflate their racist beliefs with your own proclaimed non racistness?
I can't see how anyone without a modicum of bigotry within them can vote Reform.

You won't find many that voted for Brexit who will admit they were conned. If you're
hoping for the current voters for Reform councillors to realise they are a disaster, I fear you'll be disappointed too.

Too determined to cheer on their next man of the people (again) or just too thick, take your pick.

I fully appreciate those people you’ve referenced, being angry because of decisions made by the current government. I wouldn’t say shafted, I think a lot of it has been over-egged in terms of impact etc. And Labour were left a right mess to clear up, and it’s been less than a year. Boring to hear and read that all the time, but it’s context that’s necessary.

However, anyone of that ilk who then vote Reform will end up no better off. It’s like me complaining that my bins weren’t emptied so I set fire to them and now I have no bin at all. So yeah. Idiots.
