My politics go right back to my childhood, growing up as the son of a miner and grandson of 2 miners, one of who had pneumoconiosis and lines of coal dust under his skin. We didn't particularly have a hard life but we never had a car and lived in a council house. Any doubts were completely removed by the advent of Thatcher when I was in my 20s. I was a Labour party member back in the 90s but resigned my membership due to Blair disappearing up Bush's rectum resulting in the Gulf war. I have learned in my 69 years that there are no solutions from the right which ever benefit ordinary people except in the very short term - some people gained financially from selling off the council houses and from massively undervalued shares in water, rail, telecoms and gas. All of the latter have now come back to bite us all in the rear while those who did benefit have spent their little windfall and have long forgotten it. I'm now a member of the Green Party. I joined because none of the others have fully understood the dire necessity to decarbonise our economy in order to keep our planet inhabitable. The way it's going, 2C by 2050 is nailed on which will result in global sea level rises and crop failures in the equatorial regions which will lead to mass migration on an unimaginable scale. I have a degree in chemistry and specialised in Infra Red Spectrophotometry so I KNOW how carbon dioxide causes heating. Reform have no policies which will benefit ordinary people, the NHS will be sold off and fossil fuels will be dug and pumped out of the ground in ever greater quantities making a dire situation truly disastrous.
