Why does anyone buy a football shirt. ? Why does anyone buy a band shirt.? Why does anyone buy a high end fashion designer shirt. ? Some do. What the hell has Adults got to do with it. Thousands do. Maybe you don’t buy anything that highlights owt. That’s fine. Some do. Obviously there is a demand. You may not get it. But it’s there.

My point was that whether the players wear that particular shirt for any particular game is irrelevant. You’re not buying the shirt so you can look like the players. You’re buying it to support the club and wear the club branding, surely?

Absolutely agree. Tis why the picture was relevant about the mis-selling. 1 guy on here was annoyed he bought 1 adult and 2 childrens away kits. On the basis of that fact. Maybe I’m just making a point for a minority. I don’t know. But I run an away branch along with others. And can assure you because they travel away. that away kit symbolises that for em and is worn by a majority over the home shirt. Young and old. Tis the way it is.

When I was a kid supporting the reds I usually went for an away shirt. It didn't bother me to see the players in it or not, i (well, my parents) usually bought it because i liked the design and because i liked to think i was a bit 'alternative' growing up. Away shirts that stand out: the black and blue striped 95/96; the prem; the 98/99. I wore it playing football and to matches, but again if we were playing away and wearing red i didn't care. This was round the ages 7-12. Now as a 33 year old I sometimes buy the shirts as the season is winding down (in the sale usually). I wear it to 5 a side/matches. It doesn't bother me wearing an old shirt to a match, some people like the retro look. I can't imagine most kids caring if the team don't wear the shirt they have purchased throughout the season, but maybe I'm wrong. I bought it mainly for aesthetic reasons and how it looked on me. Proper little Dorian Gray lol.
