Am I the only one who watches every race and gets excited every weekend but then always feels disappointed at the end?
It's all about the anticipation isn't it. Wondering if anyone has made any gains, wondering how drivers and teams will fit, wondering who will suit a particular track. Has Ricciardo finally got the car he deserved under him? Are Redbull as fast as Mercedes claim? Are Mercedes really struggling or will they suddenly find speed in Q3 of the first race? Will Ferrari continue their shambolic period? Can Williams make some gains? The racing is inevitably a slight let down as a pecking order appears and that is that. I always cringe at the commentator when they call the win because they typically go from say twenty or thirty laps of an uncontested leader (so much so that the camera hasn't even been following them) to making out it is the "MOST EXCITING THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED!" That's not to say Formula One isn't my cup of tea by the way. Although saying that, the lack of coverage on free-to-air TV has really tested my interest.
Fair points. In addition I think there was a lot of stuff that was out of the ordinary last season, such as Gasly winning, tonnes of red flags, the George Russell situation and tyres incident, Perez winning... it wasn't the same outcome each race as people make out.
Didn't mean to offend, just didn't see the value in contributing to a thread that you have no interest in. I would (and do) just dodge that thread that's all if I have nothing to contribute or if it doesn't interest me so I'm not being a Debbie Downer about what other people enjoy.
I thought Gasly (French) winning was rigged by the authorities (not wanting Hamilton to win). They love an Italian team or driver winning in Italy.
Can't see that myself. It's clear in Drive to Survive that other teams notice he comes in to pit when he shouldn't have. He was massively unfortunate though and I believe him that he didn't see the warning signs.
Qualifying had a very familiar feel to it. Max doing well but then we know that Mercedes do struggle at the hotter circuits. Onto the race although the bar steward is on at 1am in the morning. I'm gonna be knackered tomorrow.
Ferraris looking more promising which can only be good news. Think things are going to be more competitive this season
ALMOST SPOILER: Well it certainly delivered in the end after a slightly farcical start with cars stopping and going off. Genuine competition and it didn't rely on penalties or something unusual happening.
