I wonder how it would affect the players, likely that they would be banned from FIFA/UEFA competitions, so no internationals. Would players being transferred out of those clubs face restrictions?

It'll be a success though, Sky have been able to hype Burnley v Wolves and still sell subscriptions, Liverpool v Real Madrid, AC Milan, Bayern Munich is an easy sell. Also I can't see away fans being a consideration, they aren't in the major American sports leagues.

Bring it on for me .
The armchair fans would be just that and to get live outdoor football they would swell the ranks of their local teams . Teams such as Salford and FC of Manchester would benefit greatly imo as would loads of others .

What all the other clubs should do if this happens is start a new European football federation and bar all clubs and individuals who are complicit in this and therefore make UEFA benign and build from there.

As the game stands, with the one off exception of Leicester's title win all bar six clubs are currently disenfranchised from winning anything.
How's that a competition? Let the big six go. Yes the tv money would go with them. So what? The only thing clubs do with the tv money now is pass it on to the players and agents. It would simply mean less obscene wages for the footballers we watch every week.
As for winning anything being devalued....if you're unable to compete to win anything anyway in the current system it's a pretty moot point.

If they take part in a non-FIFA sanctioned competition, what’s the penalty?

I guess they wouldn't really care. All they're interested in is money and they believe that the biggest profits are to be made splitting off on their own.
They'd be barred from the Champions League but they'd just create their own.

Hmmm not sure. Doubt it will come to it anyway. UEFA will bottle it and throw the top clubs even more of the cake.

Spoke about this at the game today. Now should England League lose 5 or 6 of their biggest clubs, Man U, Man C, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs there will be a void which might have to be filled. Wonder if a certain 2 Glasgow clubs will be invited to fill that void.
    I certainly hope so.

The breakaway clubs would disenfranchise their own supporters, the vast majority of which would not be able to attend away matches. Still, they’ll be able to watch them on bt sports! When the premier league broke away from the football league, the rot (& money-grabbing) started. When the “champions league” allowed “non-champions” into the competition, a breakaway European league became inevitable! Will the other 27 countries let us in after March? Go on, get yourselves off, you greedy sods! Let’s take control back of our football! (Ps I don’t want to leave the EU)

Imo Ian the two Glasgow clubs will be invited into the EU super league with all the money they generate especially Celtic with all the foreign exiles and fans .
The Scottish FA as the English would would crumble under the £ signs being flashed at them .
Would be a good time imo to merge the Scottish and English leagues and show them we don’t give a fek .
Imo the two nations would relish the opportunity especially if it was sold properly apart from the idiot minority of course but hopefully they would piss off to the EU greed league anyway .

I would not be in favour of merging the leagues. Wouldn't work. The English sides would be more powerful and would relegate most Scottish sides to the lower leagues. Also travel would be a nightmare. Can you imagine a Tuesday fixture Ross County v Exeter.
Now perhaps merging both league cups might work but I'd have my doubts as the Texaco Cup ( you remember that) failed to gain much support although I liked it when it was played.

Tbh I think it would reinvigorate both FAs the Money would be spread out evenly I think the turn outs would increase .
Ross county v Exeter would be a bit extreme but Dundee Utd v Spurs or Everton would whet the appetite especially Sky viewers sick of the prima Donna league

I just think good players will go abroad if our TV deal went. Other European leagues might suffer but they can go & earn a fortune in America or the Far East.

I think academy’s would suffer as well. If clubs lose their TV money I think it’s one of the first things that goes at most football league clubs
